If you're already 134 pounds as your username says, I'd say that's the perfect weight6
-
134 is already on the low end - 124 even more so4
-
Weight is somewhat irrelevant.... You could weigh the same weight but be smaller in size because of different body composition6
-
You have to define what "perfect" means to you. Nobody can make comments on just the numbers themselves (although that won't stop them from doing so).
The recommendations for "healthy" are not going to be the same as for "lean" or "athletic" or "maximize performance in 'X' sport" or "win a figure modeling contest".5 -

This. I am 5'7 and honestly have looked great at all different weights depending on how much muscle I have (or don't have).4 -
Your current weight sounds good if you want I would recommend body recomposition. You don't have to lose weight if you want a more toned body just recomp.2
-
I'm 5'7 and for me 155lb is currently my goal 'perfect' weight as you can probably tell it is perfect weight is highly personal. Only you will know what perfectl would be for you. Maybe try recomp instead of weightloss to attain 'perfection'.

I'm 5'7" and my maintenance range is 128-133 but it really depends on your body composition, goals, etc. I have a small frame and not a ton of muscle. My BF% is still higher than I'd like but I plan to recomp rather than keep cutting.0
-
130-1551
-
Depends on body composition (fat vs muscle) and if you don't mind me saying ... boobs.
Mine are pretty small so no weight there to speak of...
I'd like to get to 127lbs where I used to be before I gained and then recomp and maybe bulk a bit from there.
I think 124 is a bit too low unless you're mostly fat and little muscle.0 -
I am 5'7 closer to 5'8 and weigh around 133. I find that anything lower my body just freaks on me. I am very happy with my body but I wouldn't mind adding some more muscle. I am pretty much doing recomp, eating while maintaining and lifting weights. I believe your perfect weight has to be what makes you feel good. If you like how you look at a certain weight but are miserable trying to stay at it, to me its not worth it. I love the way I look even more at 125-130 but it takes a lot more discipline to stay at that weight and I am more tired and moody.1
-
I think the "ideal weight" is around 135, but as said above it's very personal.
I'm 5'7" also, with a muscular frame. I'm very lean around 130 (6-pack) and comfortable anywhere between 135-145, depending on my exercise routine at the time. I personally find anything below 135 hard to accomplish, and have never been able to maintain anything below 130 (I got to 128 when I was bodybuilding and it was awful).
Do you ask so that you can set your own goal weight?0 -
I'm 5'7" , and at 152lbs, my favorite pants fit well, and I'm able to maintain that weight without much effort.0

134 is in no way the "low end" of a range that has a lower bound at 118 pounds. OP would have to lose 16 pounds to be medically underweight. I checked at the Mayo Clinic just to be sure.4 -
I like how I look around 145-155. I'm 5'7" with a wider muscular frame. My doctor wants me anywhere between 145-165 and set that as my "healthy" range for my body2
-
Look up healthy % fat for men and women (whichever you are) and judge on fat% not weight.
(for rarer sexes, use the healthy % for your hormonal situation)3 -
5'7" and my body seems to like to sit at 145. My bodyfat via DEXA scan was 21% 2 years ago. I'd estimate it in the high teens now. I'd say I have an average frame.0
-
I'm 5'8 and anything between 143lbs (lowest end) and 150 (highest) sits fine on me.
I'd say for you, 138-148lbs, depending on your build and muscle mass etc.0 -
I'm 5-7 and according to all my research, ideal weight range is 133-138. I'm currently 149 and could definitely stand to lose 10#.1

According to the Mayo Clinic, the lowest healthy weight for a 5'8" adult is 122 pounds.
Why do people here have such a skewed idea of normal weight ranges? At 5'7" tall, the lowest normal healthy weight is 118 pounds, at a BMI of 18.5. Not 138 and definitely not 140.
I keep seeing responses on this site that severely inflate what the bottom of the normal weight range is, by 15 to 20 (or in this case up to 30 pounds). I don't know why that is, but it's factually incorrect and not helpful to give out misinformation like this.6 -

I honestly dont care what the mayo clinic has to say. Anything under 143lbs makes me look sick and emaciated. When i put "lowest" in (), I meant that is the lowest I will go. I was only overweight for 2-3 years, so it's not as if i got used to the fat me. I was a slim weight my entire life up until i hit age 38-39, and that's when i gained 30lbs slowly over a couple of years.
I wear size 8 jeans Australian, which i think is a size 4 in American. I have no desire to get any smaller. This obsession to be a size nothing (0) really gets on my nerves!14 -

Today's size 0 is larger in absolute terms than a size 8 of 1958. It only exists because what a size 8 represents in inches (or centimeters if you prefer) has gotten larger.
Slamming a size 0 as "nothing" is body shaming a lot of very fit, very healthy, medically normal weight women. The fact is that 138 pounds is not the lowest normal weight for someone who is 5'7" by a long shot. You are entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts, whether they get on your nerves or not. I am only pointing out that your assertion is not based on medical fact.6 -
@Christine_72 I understood you were talking about yourself.
OP, the best weight for you is a personal decision based on your body frame, your musculature, your personal aesthetics, and your willingness to commit time and energy and sacrifice for physique.3 -
the perfect weight (if theres such a thing) is different from people to people of the same height due to diff in bone structure n frame size. Not even BMI can tell u that accurately. i m borderline obese (but look at my pic coz i m not) if i stepped on a BMI scale because BMI is average weight range for people with the same height. my bone structure n frame was not average but the BMI scale or chart wouldnt know that.
so ur 'perfect weight' would be a number that make u look good to yourself in the mirror n ur BF% is in a healthy range.3 -
Body fat % is a better measure of healthiness than pure weight.2

@heiliskrimsli I also wanted to add that last time i hit around 140-143lbs in 2015, friends of ours pulled my hubby aside and worriedly asked him if i had cancer, my mum and sister both said my face is starting to look unhealthy and haggard. I looked fine from my waist down, but from my ribs up not so much... My arms were sticks, my collarbones jutted out and i developed that sunken in sickly look in my face.
I'm 45 now, and the weight that looked good on me in my 20's and 30's just doesn't sit well on me anymore. The thinner i get, the older i look. I need a bit of padding on my face these days.
I got down to 127lbs when i was around 28, and looking at pictures of me at that time just makes me cringe, i looked just horrible, pretty much skin and bone and had a concave stomach!!
So, places like the mayo clinic can give their recommendations, but i prefer to look in the mirror and decide what weight looks best on me, not break my back trying to hit some number on the scale that an organisation tells me i should be.
And please don't mistake me for one of those fat acceptance people, I hated my body when i was overweight, and was never fine or accepting of it. I lost the 30lbs i had gained, and i'm happy right where i am.6 -

I can't exist at the lower end of BMI at all, or really even at the midpoint, either. I have a very large frame and pretty massive muscles ; is a family trait. Not body delusion, or misunderstanding of regular body weight, I'm just descended from Vikings.3 -

I'm hearing ya, being healthily little and petite is just not in my dna, I'm from sturdy German stock.
I like your bolded sentence4
