I unpacked my summer clothes including some things I've "saved" from 2012 but couldn't fit anymore. My clothes from last year are now way too large and 80% of the things I've saved fit again! I'll keep the rest for the last 40lbs I plan on losing. I'm so excited, and best of all, I won't need to buy new things!25

Thanks! That first pic is me at my absolute heaviest, fall 2006. I didn't even own a scale back then, but I'm guess I was around 275 or so. Had no energy, felt I'll all the time, etc. I'm hovering around 204 right now (up 4 lbs from New Year's), and the current pic was taking right after I finished getting all sweaty. So much more energy these days even with 2 kids who don't sleep!24 -
Did a 5k today that I ran last year. I improved my time by 4 and a half minutes! I have also logged in for 700 days!34

Set goals - then smash them!
Decided to aim high tonight for Sunday Runday. The last couple of 5K runs I did this past week left me feeling pretty good by the end. So tonight I picked a target that would really challenge me - running a 9K stretch along the Trans Canada Trail (which I adore having pretty much in my back yard).
By about 3K my body was not having it! Stitches in my side and my lungs closing up on me. But I checked my pace, focused on my breathing and kept pushing. I kept telling myself that there was no reason I couldn't get through at least 5K, I had already done that 3 times in a little over a week.
Got to the 4.5K turning point. Feeling pretty good now. If I thought I was not going to make it at 3K but pushed through anyways then I could at least get back to the 6K mark.
Got to 6K. My lungs were burning again. At this point I didn't know if I'd be able to do 9K. It was about at this point that a Post-It on my computer monitor with one of my favourite quotes on it came to mind and became my mantra for the rest of the run -
"Nothing feels better than proving your biggest doubter wrong, yourself".
I got back to the home stretch (a beautiful, straight, flat, tree-lined section) and as if in the cheesiest of movies, a misty rain starts to come down. It feels so good and I have a grin from ear to ear.
Tonight I ran 9K. No stopping, no walking.
I am not the same person I was 4 months ago, I am so much better! I can't wait to see what I can challenge myself to do next!52 -
Today is supposed to be my exercise rest day, and I feel like I don't need any rest - no muscle soreness, good energy levels. Up until now, even with a rotating workout and two days of rest, it was more like, "I have to work out again? Everything still hurts from last time and I hate working out!" It seems like my body is getting the hang of this whole recovering thing. Now I'm having to make myself take a day off to let my body recover and I miss working out.19

People would never sit beside me on the bus because I was so big. To my surprise, a young man asked me if I could move over because there were no more seats. I felt proud.40

Out with hubby yesterday to celebrate my 72nd birthday and going to the powder room a guy (who I've seen lots of times) said you look really nice. My hubby always compliments me but it's nice when someone else does34

The weather forecast was grim (high speed winds, rain, blah, blah, blah).
The alarm went off at 5am. I got up. Looked outside, could see it was really windy but not too much rain.
Get kitted up to cycle to the gym. It's raining but not enough to put me off.
Got the bike out.
Got on the bike, started cycling and a gust of wind pushed me off it.
I was annoyed. Very annoyed.
I put the bike away and had to drive the car to the gym (first time in about six weeks).
So . . . no bike ride (yet).
Then I had to walk with my daughter to college and go to the Post Office. Convince my son to go as well so that we can continue our C25K quest. It's lightly raining and very windy.
We start the workout . . . . and it starts raining.
We get to the first 5-minute run . . . and it rains harder.
We did not let the weather beat us though. We carried on. I managed to complete all four runs (2 x 3-minute runs and 2 x 5-minute runs) - my son struggled a bit so we may need to repeat this week but we finished it. In the rain, against 20mph winds.
I still enjoyed it.

Small victories add up in the end
My NSV: went to celebrate my 3rd anniversary with my husband at a nice Italian restaurant and while I did go over calories (by about ~700), I logged it all and went right back to my normal food the next day. Overindulging used to result in me spiraling down and making me want to indulge more, but not this time.
These things will always happen and dealing with them is so important. Don't beat yourselves up for slipping- find your stride and keep going!

I love everybody's Nsvs. Here is my first one. I need a belt for all my trousers and jeans. I can put on smaller trousers,but I look like a sack of spuds tied up in the middle. So the belt it is for now16

I went to a baby shower yesterday and was able to show restraint that surprised myself. I had a sensible portion of baked ziti and eggplant parm with one meatball and salad. A year ago I would've loaded up my plate and gone back for seconds. I experience FOMO pretty seriously so in the past I've always felt like I was going to be missing something or deprived in some way if I didn't take advantage of free food (I think I might've been malnourished in another life; no justification for the FOMO effect) in social situations. I was so proud yesterday that I was able to partake in the celebration and eat some very tasty food without going overboard. I call that a NSV
FOMO: I had never heard that before so had to Google it. Oh my.......that is completely me when it comes to food. We used to have a dog who stole every scrap of food in sight. If it was on the kitchen counter, and you left the house, he stole it. Same with getting into the garbage. It didn't matter how we disciplined him, he just couldn't help himself. And yes, he had been found as a stray when we adopted him from a shelter. So now I have that vision in my head of my behaviour being like our dog's. Thank you! Honestly, this will help me so much!!!

I have a particular pair of shorts that I typically do all my yard work in - lots of digging, moving retaining wall bricks, etc. along with regular lawn and garden stuff - really anything that makes me dirty.
Last year I had to leave the top button open because they were too tight. 3 weeks ago I put them on for the first heavy work of the season....
... and I needed a belt to keep them up!27 -

Agreed. I ran my first 5K at 280. It's definitely possible. Check with your doctor if you're not sure.
And I second the importance of good running shoes!!! Worth every penny.
What they said I started running at 280. I made sure to take it slow (running only every other day for example) but definitely best choice ever. I love it.14 -

didn't have that Rootbeer float I was wanting all day Saturday. We live next door to the DQ so it would have been easy to walk over there. Went for a 11 mile bike ride instead.
Have ridden bike every day so far in May 197 miles. If I had realized last night how close I was to 200 miles I would have stayed out a little longer and finished.
Had a small portion of dessert yesterday and didn't go back for more.

am counting this as NSV even though I am still sweating and bright red.
Went to colleagues and told them about combat class (numbers are low and I don't want it to die!) in the hope that they would come along for a go.
Well all 3 sort of turned around and said, 'is that what you have been doing, you're looking good'
that's alot of attention all at once, so I went boiling hot and red faced (how I 'cope' with attention) and stuttered my way through saying, 'thanks' and hurried back to desk.
lol
but nice that people are noticing
ETA: And finally am able to comfortably do up my garmin on a tighter notch. Was hanging off my wrist the past 2 weeks but just wasn't loose enough on the next notch in. Yay!22 -
Last year I bought several pieces of nice clutching, including jeans, when I hit size 10. I reasoned that tee smallest I've been as as adult was measurement 38-28-38, which would put me in a current size 8, and one side isn't enough to worry about bad fit or pants falling off.
I've really enjoyed that choice, butI didn't count on my increased physical activity sending my measurements down father. I'm currently 36-27.5-37 ... none of my size 10s will stay on without a belt, and the 8s are slipping. And forget about the 12s and 14s still lurking in my closet; they no longer look loose, yet resemble potato sacks. Time for an unexpected wardrobe update!22 -
Ran 5K race in 27:22.
A little background into this. I turned 50 in Oct 2016 and weighed 230 lbs. I am 5'8" male.
I started C25K last Dec. but was not very dedicated. I had signed up for a race in Feb. but had not completed the program by race day. I ran/walked the race anyway. Finished in 35:30 and weighed 225 on race day. I decided to change my lifestyle and count calories and finish the C25K program. I ran another race after completing the program in April and my time had improved to 29:36. Weight was Down to approx 205.
Saturday I ran my 3rd 5K and finished in 27:22. I won the 50-59 age group. Granted there were only 4 in this age group but I was happy. My weight is now under 190. I am thrilled with the progress I am making since I haven't really run since I was in the Army 30 years ago.
Congrats to everyone else on here for your accomplishments. You all are very inspirational.41 -
I walked the dog 3 miles this morning before work. Let me just say, I am not a morning person. I haven't gotten up early to walk or work out for over five years. I feel so happy!24

I bought a soft dove grey (p)leather skirt WITH POCKETS about three years ago, and it fit, but just barely. It was perfect, though, and I told myself that I would lose weight and it would fit better so I needed to grab it before someone else did. Except, that I didn't lose weight - I went the other way and I didn't get much wear out of it, and mostly in the winter when I could wear a sweater or other untucked top over it and not need to zip it up all the way. I wore it to a Christmas party last year, and it was at least 3 inches from being about to zip up . On Easter last month, it zipped all the way up to the top, but it was a snug fit and was quite uncomfortable by the end of the day, after all the eating. Today, it zipped up, I tucked in TWO layers of tops (a tank and a sheer blouse, so not thick layers, but still) and there's still extra room in the waistband!! I can even sit comfortably and not feel like I'm being strangled .41

I bought new clothes for the first time since December. The last time I tried on clothes, I cried a little, swore really loudly, and got dirty looks because of the swearing. lol This time, I actually had FUN trying on clothes! I bought some cute tops, and I even went from an XL to a Medium.33

I shopped in my closet! My work pants needed to be ironed (all 5 pairs - I slacked over the weekend on laundry), and I didn't want to be late, so I grabbed a pair one size down and they fit! No sucking in! No muffin top! And I can sit and move comfortably!22

Took a Mother's day hike with hubby and my son. A year ago there is no way i could have done it. I made it up the mountain, barely having to catch my breath at all--and had an easier time with it than hubby (he's also losing weight, but a little bit of a slower start). I wore cute little spandex shorts and workout top, too.27

The weather has not been my friend today. I've been stuck indoors, waiting for the wind and rain to die so that I can get out and about.
The rain eventually stopped so we went out for a walk. The children were a little half-hearted about it because of the grotty weather but went without complaint. They didn't even moan when it started raining and we were a couple of miles from home. They didn't complain when I decided to extend our walk to go via the local supermarket to get some milk and tomatoes. We got home wet but no complaints We did see the most adorable goslings though, could only have been a couple of days old. Sadly our swans are not doing so great, one of the swans has gone AWOL (no idea if it's the cob or pen as unless they are together I cannot tell them apart), four of the eight eggs have disappeared and I don't think that the other four are going to hatch
Not cycling today has been driving me stir crazy. I'd spent the day usefully employed (educating my children - I taught my toddler some new reading words today and also taught her how to spell a couple; taught my sons about respiration and photosynthesis and threw in a bit of geometry for fun; talked to my teenage daugher about some revision ideas - she's gone into panic/hysteria mode as her exams start next week; also made a start on DH's business accounts - I'm very lazy and only do them once a year, a habit I need to change). The rain had gone, still windy though but after dinner tonight I decided that I had to get out on the bike or just go crazy. And I'm crazy enough as it is.
So off I went.
Within half a mile, I'm cycling into a head wind and thinking that this was a huge mistake and that I really should turn back.
I kept going.
I'm trying to decide which way to go. As it was getting dark, I promised DH I'd just do the circular route on cycle paths around our part of town, so I could go clockwise or anti-clockwise. I was trying to work out which way would be least troubled by wind. Make my decision and keep going.
The wind picks up. I keep going.
I'm cycling like a crazy thing as I can sense that the rain may be making a comeback - soon. And the wind is getting stronger. And it's getting darker. I don't want to stop to put my lights on the bike (I actually have to remove them when I park my bike anywhere as they'd be stolen, so they were in my bag) so I really am cycling like a mad thing.
Three miles from home, I feel rain. No choice, keep going.
I get to a point where I can go the quick way home, or the longer (much longer) way. Decide that as I'm already getting wet, I may as well do the long route. So that's what I do.
Aaaaannnnd get completely soaked. Right through to the skin. I had to peel saturated clothes off (when I got home, obviously; I didn't need to be arrested for indecent exposure, although that may have given the local police a good laugh).
But despite being soaked, it was worth it. I am now at inner peace, having got my daily "fix" of cycling.
The weather WILL NOT beat me!!!27
