Hello!

I have the paid version of MFP and I also have the paid version of cronometer gold. Has anyone used both and which do you like better and why?

Thanks in advance for helping me decide!

I just joined cronometer (literally right now) as I'd never heard of it.... MFP I think has a better database of food to be honest. I think there would be less need to log your foods manually. Test it out? Search for some brands in both and see which one has more products.

@Verity1111 Yes, I noticed that right away! Even my coffee is listed! Nespresso! And the whey protein I used is listed, and it's not thee most popular product either. So that makes me happy.

Do make sure you double check entries when you start searching, as the MFP database is largely user-added there can be many inaccuracies.

While the above is true, even if you need to double check the label it's better than hand entering it all lol

I've used the free version of both. Each has good and bad points. Cronometer's database is smaller, so you have to input more of your own foods, but then it's also less bloated, so you spend less time navigating all the incorrect entries. Cronometer has a wider variety of macros for monitoring, although anything that isn't required on the label is potentially off. Cronometer lacks the community, which we have here. As with anything, you need to consider which one has the ability to better meet your needs.

IN case anyone else is interested, Cronometer is by far superior. You can track ALL macronutrients AND micronutrients. I've decided to cancel my premium membership with MFP. It's 10x more popular but there is very little info to see here compared to cronometer.com.

I've made my decision based on email communications with MFP development team and my own research outside of here. There is no other place online that I know of where you can track the information you need, REALLY need, for your health. Vitamins and other micro- and macronutrients are important. Do you know if you are getting enough copper? Too much copper (our vitamin supplements provide copper as do our foods.) What kind of amino acids are you getting? If you have hormone or thyroid imbalances, amping up certain amino acids will be important. The only way to know this information is by getting a blood test or by using cronometer.

    Hope this helps someone.
