Net Calories

Hi All,

I set MFP to lose 0.75 pounds per week, my current stats are 5''4 and 195 pounds.

It gave me a goal of 1400, I am exercising as well.

Please see below an example of my net calories for the past week - I cannot eat anymore food, I am eating all sorts of things, mac and cheese + bacon, biscuits (cookies), breakfast cereal, protein (steak, chicken)?

I use a Fitbit Charge 2 HR to track steps and exercise calories burned... today it gave me 500+ extra calories, even if I take half of those away or even a third (I know Fitbits are inaccurate) I come in at just over 1000 net calories.

I do not want to damage my body but cannot eat anymore. Is this going to be a problem?

Open to friend requests, add me if you have an open diary so I can see what high calorie foods you are eating?

How accurate is your logging? If you're stuffed full on only 700 calories and eating high calorie foods I'd assume you're over estimating exercise and under estimating your calories. Your diary is locked so can't really provide more insight....

I weigh everything on a food scale, all liquids are measured using a syringe to the ml (salad dressings, olive oil etc).

I am not only eating high calorie foods - a mix of low cal (veggies, salad etc) and some higher calorie things.

My rate of weight loss also seems too high, I have lost 3.2kgs or 7 pounds in 18 days is that normal?

Your rate of loss is so high because you're eating so little.

I really don't like the Net Calorie report - it takes the exercise calories out of the total eaten for the day. Unless you are eating back exercise calories, it will always show as way too low. I know that my exercise calorie burn is way too high in this app and I may eat back 50-100 calories or so but it will always look bad in this report (I think I have 500 something net cals for Monday). That is my personal take on it, I know others will say that you should be eating them back and they may be right. We can't definitively say until you open your diary.

What's your gross/total calories for the day on average? I sometimes net less than 1000 on days I work out alot (usually twice a week) but I usually eat around 1600/1700 cals a day on average including the weekends (although my net is probably 1300/1400 on average rather than 900) if you're feeling satiated/full and you're actually eating total around the 1400/1500 mark you're probably getting the nutrients you need. Just don't burn yourself out though, if you are working out alot and eating very little you become in danger of losing muscle as well as fat and that could screw your metabolism (BMR), you could try adding some higher cal little things to get your protein/cals up such as nuts/nutbutter, cheese, avocado, higher cal salad dressings and olive oil? x

    Use the total calories.
