Please help- can't figure out 1)how to delete/remove food entries from RECENT 2)COPY only 1 food entry from one day to another and not the whole meal.
I started recording 5 weeks ago and some entries are not relevant any longer

A user currently can not delete items from the Recent list on the web version or iOS mobile app. MFP started rolling out a delete capability for the Recent list for the Android MFP mobile app version 6.13 on 21 April 2017. I have not had the opportunity to test that out, so the following only applies to the versions that do not have the delete capability.

Currently, the Recent list on the web version seems to be a plain, old database query that is regenerated each time the Food Diary is searched and displays up to the last 100 items a user added to their Food Diary, either by individual Meal, or by All Meals, depending on the display option. Those food items will eventually drop off of the Recent list display on the web version after a user logs more items. The Recent list query on the web version likely is not stored anywhere (it likely is regenerated every time the Food Diary is searched or the page is refreshed); which is why in the current design a user can not delete anything from it on the web version.

On the mobile apps, it seems the Recent list query can pull and display (using predictive text) more items from the mobile app Diary than what is displayed on the Web version.

The Frequent list displays up to 50 items from the Food Diary based on an algorithm that the user can not change, but a user can in effect hide particular food items from displaying in the Frequent list.

If desired, a user can change the default display to the Frequent list, from which the user can hide previous food items that were added to the Food Diary and which the user does not want to see displayed on a list of foods. On the Web version, navigate to FOOD > Settings and change Default Add Food View to Frequent. On the mobile apps, navigate to Settings > Diary Settings and set Default Search Tabs to Frequent.

Currently, the only way to have the Recent list query not display those items on the web version that have been added to the Food Diary is for a user to go back to the Food Diary and delete all instances of those unwanted items from every day that the item has been logged. A user can go back to individual days in the Food Diary and delete the food items one by one on the web version or by multi-delete on the mobile apps. However, once those unwanted entries from the Food Diary have been deleted, the Calories and other nutrients will not be correct for those previous days and any Reports, if viewed, will not be correct.

Thanks for the answer. I was wondering the same thing. Glad to know that they will eventually drop off.
I used to use MFP about 5-6 years ago doing Low fat diet & now I'm back & going the keto route. All my old low carb stuff is junking up my recent options to pick from.

MFP definitely needs to address this for PC users. My recent foods list is now 5 pages to scroll through. Foods I haven't had in months ARE NOT dropping off the recent list at all.

Thanks for answer. Now I know that there's hope for PC users.

I would not put too much hope on seeing it soon on the web version, but I could be mistaken.

Since I still have not updated to the latest MFP Android app version, I am only speculating here. If the structure of the relational database on the web version has not changed, as evidenced by the behavior of the web version Recent list query, I would guess that the method for "deleting" items from the Recent list display on the Android version is just a "hide" function built into the MFP Android mobile app code. That "hide" function likely mimics the "hide" function of the Frequent list. The subset of a user's Food Diary is smaller on the mobile apps (for storage reasons) than on the web version where a user's full Food Diary is permanently stored. The software code needed to "hide" food items on the mobile apps may not port well (or at all) to the web version.

Oh, well, but at least I know that I'm not the only one who does not like Recent food list. I def. can live with it. I came to MFP from different tracking sight and I like MFP much better.

I actually like the Recent list query on the web version more than I dislike it. I have five years of food entries in my Food Diary, and I often want to log an older item that has dropped off of the last 100 items per meal slot that are displayed. In that case, I have to use the View Full Report (Printable) function, then run the report for possibly multiple one-year periods, use the CTRL-F (Find) browser function to locate the last time I logged the food, then copy that meal slot to "today" and delete the unwanted items from the copied meal. I wish the web version Recent list query would display more than 100 recent items.

So, the copy works only by copying the whole meal and not one particular food from one day to another? Right?

Correct. The current user workflow on the web version requires a full meal copy from an individual meal slot on another day, then delete unwanted items. The mobile app allows users to do a multi-select / multi-deselect, then copy. When I want to copy just a few items, I will go to the mobile app and do it that way.
