For those more interested in a more accurate scientific assessment of sugar instead of propaganda:
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/brainwaves/is-sugar-really-toxic-sifting-through-the-evidence/
Bottom line:- Sugar, whether it is sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactose, *-ose, is not toxic in amounts normally consumed
- Studies used to assert sugar toxicity are too often based on animal models and/or consuming extremely high amounts
- Obesity is caused by over-consumption of all foods. Cutting down of energy dense foods, such as sugary snacks, is a valid strategy, but it is still the overall energy balance that governs weight loss and gain.

OP, curious if you think that people here are not already familiar with a video from 2011 or so. It's actually been discussed a bunch here. I'm saying this not because it's wrong to have posted it again -- of course not! -- but because if there is something specific you want to talk about it's probably best to be more, well, specific and tell us.
Lustig is not accepted as gospel by most here, to put it mildly. I don't disagree with everything he says, and actually think some of his work is interesting, but I do think it's important to understand the contrary arguments too (and that simplifying something as "it's all sugar" as so many seem to do these days is not really a good approach).14 -
LOL @ thinking anyone's going to watch that.11

Hooray, its Friday.17

The "bitter truth" is is that you got sucked into seeing manipulated information OP. Like many other people. I have this $1500 vacuum cleaner I'd like you to see if you're willing for the sales demonstration.

It's not sugar, it's the method of presentation that makes me want to crawl out of my skin.
- First of all, the speaker is an "evangelist", a personality I can only tolerate in small doses; "I gave at the office" and run.
- Second, it's an hour long. Captive audience much?
- Give me a book instead. At least a book or a paper I can put down, speed up, and skip to the conclusion if I wish. And I can read faster.
- Third, I've been to dozens of diabetic classes in my life. I am intimately familiar with the way my body reacts to sugar. Why does sugar get all the bad press? I've had far worse reactions from white rice.
- At this stage of my life I'd be much happier to skip to the footnotes, look up the references, and spend the next three hours finding counter-arguments. At least then I will feel half-way educated about the subject.

To put it very mildly.
Lustig is a woo peddler who cherry picks research to support his agenda, which is not at all in agreement with science.13 -
I tried sugar once, now I'm homeless38

Sugar is not to be omitted from your diet. Your brain needs sugar. We function with the help of sugar. What needs to be done is as we all know, follow a balanced diet. Everything in moderation. Be mindful. That is all.3

It's been a few years now since I've watched this but I thought it was worthwhile too.2 -

No your body doesn't need sugar. It doesn't need carbs at all, for that matter (and a few people manage to function just fine with a diet containing virtually no carbs) (not me!). the body can make everything it needs from fats and proteins.7 -
Waste of time...

....and the body very handily converts those fats and proteins in to sugar...which it can actually use.15 -
This film has been highly scrutinized over the years.. but what i have figured out, i will not take the advice of MD's. They are not trained in the field. I take advice from scientist who have been educated in and researched the field for their entire career. Especially people like; Layne Norton, Brad Schoenfeld, James Kreiger, Alan Aragon, Menno Henselmans, etc...
I go to doctors for treatment. I think of it like this; If i want a car to be designed, I'd go to an engineer. If my car is broken, I'd go to a mechanic. Alternatively, you can think of it like this; if you had a heart problem, would you rather go to a cardiologist or a dermatologist... both are doctors, but one is specialized.8 -

I grew up in a poor village experiencing a sugar shortage. Since the advent of sugar my little village grew ten-fold. The townspeople can read and have good jobs. Geese lay golden eggs...all thanks to sugar.11
