Hi I'm Gemma and in need of some help please. I want to get back down to 140lbs after the birth of my daughter last year. Should I be weight training as well as HIIT to loose the 20lbs or just concentrate on cardio? And if lifting should I lift heavy? Or keep it moderate weight?
I'm 35 years old 5'7 weigh 164lbs and want to get to 140lbs. I workout 3 some times 4 times a week and do HIIT training for about 20 mins after my strength training which is for about 30 mins.
If you need any more information let me know
Thanks for you help

Yes you should lift. Cardio is optional but can increase your deficit or allow you to eat more while staying at a deficit.

Concentrate on calorie intake. Exercise is optional, but good. I will also burn some additional calories, not much, but some, unless you exhaust yourself and reduce your NEAT as a result.

Thank you for your help. I've been reading and 37gs a day for my carbs I though was pretty low but I think if I'm not training on that day I should stick to it. And maybe up it slightly to get my fibre intake in. I've started today and I've got lots of calories left as I would normally have vegs with my lunch and tea but can't as they are carbs . I'll see how it goes for a week.

Yes, < 50 g of carbs is ketosis level. But you don't want to go in and out of ketosis; if you want to be there, stay there. However, low carb isn't necessary to lose weight - only a calorie deficit is and there are many ways to achieve that. Low carb is a great WOE for some people with medical conditions or if it helps you maintain a calorie deficit; for others, it is unnecessary torture.

37 carbs a day sounds like torture. You shouldn't need to go down that low, ever, unless you're specifically doing a ketogenic diet. Once you get adequate protein and fat all your remaining cals can come from carbs, it's the calorie deficit that makes you lose fat not low carbs.
