Hello,

I'am 53yr, woman, 5ft 1, 55.2kg body fat 27% body fat mass 14.9kg
I have a trainer who has me on abs, cardio, upper body and legs programme. Many weights, squats etc. 1200 cal diet high protein, low carb med fat.

My problem is silly has it may sound everything is shrinking nicely but my stomach seems to be growing afew wks ago I was 34in now I'am 35in. I read that when exercising your ab muscles tighten and pushes the fat to the front which causing it to get larger before it starts to go flat. Has anyone heard of this or suggestions on what is happening?

Thanks
Wendy

Isn't this a question for your trainer?

Do you feel bloated? Are you pooping as often now you're low carb?

You're 55kg, 27% body fat and have a 35 inch waist? Or are you measuring your lower abdomen? Could it be bloating? If not I'd see your doctor.

Go to the GP. Can be something serious. You're in the right age group for things like Ovarian Cancer etc. Push for a scan of your abdomen.
