The Shame of Old Eating Habits

So I'm a new member of this community, and also this website and its tracking of food. I got an idea from a member that I can eat my normal self for a week (while tracking it) and then seeing what I want to remove.

I'm only on the third day of doing this and I kind of want to stop now lol. I uhhh... let's just say I eat double the amount of food than I should be eating to just MAINTAIN my weight. The shame. the *kitten* shame.

One thing: Binge eating disorder. one reason why I eat WAY too much. Before I had it, I was 195 lbs (now 235 2 years later) and even I didn't ate as much as I am now.

When I was tracking everything on just a REGULAR day, It made me surprised that I actually ate that much.

Do you see why I want to lose weight now? lmao.

Like I sometimes watch overweight / obese people eat their food and you can tell it's usually really *kitten* gross. Now that I've seen mine and actually analyzing it, I'm just as gross.

So I'm going to stop the shameful old habits and actually going to start eating well. So before I saw the post of this person that gave me the idea of this, I was actually trying to manageably. I ended up on 1,000 calories and staying below on everything else (Except sodium) but feeling mostly full and happy. So I am going to stop my binge eating because I have enough information on what I want to remove from my diet and I don't want my horrible ED torturing my poor fat body again.

This website is so honest on food it hurts lol.

Yes, tracking while not dieting is shocking. I always recommend people who are just starting out to do it. I don't think most people realize how much food they eat, I know I don't. I can easily do 2500-3000 a day and not feel that I ate that much.

Don't be ashamed! What's important is you're making steps to change. I had the same revelation. I can't even believe how I used to eat. My problem was portioning as well, even if the food itself wasn't terrible. I have been logging for a little over 2 weeks now and I have already seen a change in how I feel and even what I WANT to eat. Good luck!

Lol, you mirror my thoughts when I first started tracking - that's HOW MANY calories? I ate THAT much already? :) I think realizing you might not be eating right is the best thing MFP does for you and the first step to improving. Good luck on your lifestyle changes!

I did what you did, but as a college nutrition class project. Mind you I had no idea how much I should have been eating, but it shocked the professor so much she actually put frowny faces and other disheartening comments along the lines of total disbelief. And that wasn't me bingeing, that was my everyday life. I got it after that.

Kudos to you on taking this important step toward getting healthy. Good luck.
