My weight is climbing and I don't know why

I've been eating less to roughly the same amount of calories as I normally do and doing about an hour of cardio 4 times a week. However, my weight has steadily climbed to close to 10 pounds in a little over a month. My lower stomach which is normally flat is distended. I'm so confused as to what could be happening. Please help.

    I have been logging and weighing consistently. I did recently move which could have something to do with it I started a new birth control this past week.

    I second B.

    Also, unexplained weight gain plus distended belly, going on for a month -- I think you should see a doctor. Even if it's constipation, that's kind of a long time, could be causing secondary problems. Or the constipation could be secondary to something else.

    You should talk to your OBGYN.
    I had the same thing happening to me and it turns out the pill was messing up my hormones and making me gain weight.

    @timeflies95. Have your macros changed? Has the time of day you eat the calories changed? Do you eat protein with carbs?

    Do you weigh your food portions?

    Have you been you your doctor and had a blood test? May be something medical (you can develop insulin resistance even at healthy weight, or thyroid issues, etc...).

    I would go with a trip to the doctors sounds like something is up - @TavistockToad makes a pretty good suggestion if you're female or it could be something irritating your stomach and causing you to bloat/swell. Either way all we can do here is speculate.

    the word "Roughly" is a bit of a red flag there.

    Increasing exercise increases appetite.
    Human beings are very, very prone to undercounting what they are taking in, by a LOT.
    Increasing appetite with exercise can drastically increase the kind of eating that is difficult to count - grabbing a bite here, upping your portion sizes a bit there, etc.

    It's why many (most) people don't lose all the weight by increasing activity alone, because intake will subtly increase along with activity.
