Why MyFitnessPal does not allow users to complete their daily food diary when total daily calories are low like 1000 calories !!!!!!!!
Please MyFitnessPal fix this issue , I am fat not anorexic I just want to eat 1000 calorie today ,because on other days I usually eat 3000 calories and surprisingly I am able to complete the diary.

You don't need to complete the diary...8

No need to. All you get is the "if every day were like this..." prediction, and like you've said, not every day is like that day, so it doesn't matter at all.3

I want to share my bad food decisions in diary with my friends and family, I think I can not share until daily dairy is complete.Am I right?1

So type on your news feed 'I've completed my diary for the day' then your pals will know...3 -
I haven't closed my diary off for years1

Thanks guys , it appears my friends can see my diary even if it is not completed.
I will never hit complete button again3 -

^^^This. And they can still look in your diary to see what you ate.1 -
You probably could just do a quick add the missing calories with nothing attached or label it as "X" amount of calories of air, just so you can close the entry. Cheat the system.1

I would think it can't be done because for the vast majority of the population a calorie intake this low would be considered unhealthy and this app does not want to promote unhealthy lifestyle choices in any way shape or form.6

Exactly. They don't want to promote undereating, so they discourage it by not letting you complete. I don't usually have that issue, lol, but a couple times I wasn't feeling great, and hsd to just end eithout being complete2 -
Complete it with the quick add then delete it right away1

If your diary is open to friends they can view it whenever they want from your profile, they don't have to wait until the diary is completed for the day.2 -
um, so everyone's giving advice and no-one is at all concerned that an overweight, apparently MALE user is trying to eat 1000 calories a day?!
Please eat more, OP. Eating that little is dangerous.4 -

He says he eats 3000 the other days so it'll balance out to a reasonable number over the week one would hope.9 -

I sort of agree with this, this has eating disorder written all over it. Been there, done that, came here to make healthy decisions.
OP are you getting help with this (counselling, etc)?

Could be doing something similar to 5/2 IF where it's part of the program is having 2 fast days where you only eat 600-1000 calories a day. This is a fairly common program and so the OP's behaviour is not unusual.2

This is the real red flag...1 -
Don't know why it matters. I never click the complete button.2

Why is that a red flag? I don't know about you but accountability is one of the biggest motivators I've had, which made the difference between sticking at it long term this time and just ending up in the same yo-yo cycle.1 -
I've had a few days where I can't close it off. Bugs me but it isn't the end of the world.
Lots of reasons to not hit your limit in a day that don't require hand-wringing. Most of mine are after a night out when I overate/drank and take it easy the following days. I've got 3 or 4 of these since September, and a couple of sick days. See no reason to jump to the ED conclusion so quickly.2 -
What's the pount of completing the diary anyway? I've never used it and I can still.track my intake normally? Does completing it change anything?0

Nope. I'd say if you are freaking out that you can't get the message about loss in 5 weeks if you eat only 800 calories per day then that's a red flag. If you just want to make sure you keep up your streak and the food you logged saved, no worries (the streak is just about checking in, not even logging, and the food saves regardless).
OP, I never close out, or at least do so rarely. I forget. (Or if I have a rare low day where it wouldn't let me, I don't even try to.) Sounds like you are good.0
