Great work! I also lost weight using IF with an 8-hour food window. I'm up about 2 pounds, so I'm going back to IF starting today! My first "meal" is usually coffee with cream/coconut oil, which starts my 8-hour window. I then eat when I feel hungry. The first day is always the hardest for me....4

I'm on the Keto diet & I like to IF

With your fasting are you also watching your carbs? I have a friend who is Fasting 16 hours and doing the Keto diet?

Sorry so many questions but the this whole idea intrigues me!4 -

You look great fella, well done.8 -
I love IF, for me it has helped change how I look at food and control my cravings. I eat between 11 am- 12 pm and stop eating by 8 PM at the latest. I'm always in my calorie goal without issue, and I don't even get hungry in the morning. If I do feel hungry, I drink a ton of water and it goes away.6

I just started doing this, except I still drink coffee with cream and sugar. I thought I was going to be dying of starvation but it's not bad. I just thought it would be an easy way to cut calories and eat more for lunch and dinner.
Awesome weight loss, you look great!3 -
Thank you everyone! No haters. Just people havin fun. But it's really me! lol

Could be but also may have gotten a nice tattoo anytime after the "before' pic was taken.
No way it's the same person - In the first picture the person is inside, in the second one the person is at the beach - how do you explain that?
Oh how I hope this response was a joke I am dying laughing!!!
Lol..... Glad people are having some fun. That's what it's all about. Sam6 -

Good job, OP. I cannot do IF because I am T2Dm and fasting makes my blood sugar go up (need to eat several meals spread out over the day) but you make a good case for those who can do it.1

What's your IF schedule?
Also, what is your bf% in the after photo?
Where did your belly go?1 -
I've just started 16:8 IF today.
Did you do any diets at same time like LCHF or did you just eat what you liked (within reason ie calories)1 -
What is the purpose of IF?0

Columbo? Dude, you are totally showing your age. I haven't seen a Columbo episode in decades... LOL.
Great job, OP - and some of us can actually look at a persons FACE to determine whether it is the same guy.
Love Intermittent Fasting - I can't stand the thought of food until I am fully conscious, anyway (takes minimum three hours - LOL) and eating two meals - or only one, allows me to eat the foods that I love and still stay under CICO.
Tamales for dinner! IF Rocks!5 -

I suppose it depends. There are a lot of benefits from fasting. Most people who do intermittent fasting (IF) typically do 16/8: 16 hours of fasting followed by 8 hours of feasting. :-) So your first meal could be at 12:30 pm (lunch), then you eat again around 7-8pm (dinner). Perhaps with a bit of snacking in between those meals. Then nothing again until lunch. You can drink a lot of water during the fasting period. Sparkling water is especially filling. Black coffee is also allowed.
I recommend doing a YouTube search, you'll find lots of good info. If you're trying to lose weight, it's great. You can have two big meals instead of 3 medium/small meals, so long as you can last until lunchtime.
I started by accident, after the hectic pace of a new job forced me to go without breakfast each day until around 1pm. After a difficult first week, I found that I really didn't miss breakfast at all. Now I don't get hunger pangs until around 11:30 or so. Oftentimes later. I eat huge meals and in fact need to force myself to eat to make sure I get enough calories at each meal!
I'm by far the most productive in the mornings, since I don't need to waste time on breakfast, other than making 2-3 espressos. I'm also super alert and active at work in the mornings. I found that no breakfast really suits me in so many ways. Apparently there are also health benefits from IF beyond the ease of reducing caloric intake. Your body starts to feed on those fatty deposits when it thinks it's not going to get food for a while.
Had you asked me months ago if this was right for me, I would have said no. But now I'm convinced it's what's best for my body. I've gone from 106 kg to 85 kg in 5 months, although I only started IF 2 months ago. That's almost 50 lbs down... Now I'm 6'3" and 185 lbs, exactly where I was when I graduated from HS.
And like the OP, I'm also 50 years old, and my birthday was also in October... :-) Small world.14 -
Great job sbantonio. IF works because it restricts your eating window thereby creating a caloric deficit. I've been doing IF for the last 3 Spring/Summer seasons (I bulk in Autumn/Winter), I usually drop 30lbs in the first 3 months (March-May) and another 10-15lbs the last 3 months (June-August)5

I absolutely love IF. There are those out there that don't get it and tell me I'm eating wrong but I feel amazing! I've been practicing IF since August 2016 and would love some fellow IF friends, feel free to friend request me!2

well I started Tuesday night - had my last meal at 6pm then went 23 hours fasting. Wednesday night I ate about 1300 calories high protein, fat and fibre and low carbs (sort of keto). Today I shortened my fast to 18 hours and again followed the same sort of plan. I could not stop peeing and I woke up 4lbs lighter this morning than I was on Tuesday. I realise that might be a lot of water retention but time will tell.... I feel positive about this - its definitely manageable. I'm going to stick with eating between 12pm and 6pm, then fast and only drink water or tea.
Im wondering what other people do and what results have you had?1 -

Basically by fasting for 12 hours or more, your body is forced to access your fat cells for energy, as there is no glucose left in your blood. This means burning excess body fat without trying. Then paired with a healthy eating plan during your feeding times, you can be healthy and kick start your body to burn more fat for energy therefore lose fat/weight. Its not as hard as you would think either. lots of people eat 2 big meals per day starting early afternoon.
There are proven health benefits as well such as reducing risk of cancer, improving your brain's function and reducing risk of Alzheimer's and depression.14 -
I eat my meals between 10:30AM and 7:30PM. It has decreased the urge to late night snack3

I remember that my aunt- who lived to be 99 years old would eat this way every day. She would wake up and finally would bunch around 11:30- 12:00 which would oatmeal, banana an some type of drink- tea coffee etc. then she would not eat anything until evening which was 5- 6:00 pm when she would eat a nice dinner around 7:30 or so would always eat a dessert such as cake, slice or pie or some other goody.8

There's really no "might be" about it. If you're peeing a lot, you *are* dropping mostly water weight. Plus fat loss doesn't occur either that quickly or that dramatically in 2 days.2
