Slim down on Deployment

Hello everyone!
I'm new to my fitness pal and wanted to get different input on my next move. I am currently deployed in Iraq and I wanted to lose 12-15 pounds. I'm at 157 and I have a sedentary job. I try to work out 5-6 times a weeks, lots of cardio. My focal points for weight loss are my stomach and arms , since I've had my son its been a problem area. Toned arms and a flat stomach that's all I want. I want to get a boob job in the next 4-5 months so I would like to lose the weight before hand. I'm not well versed on the scientific aspect of weight loss and when I get to the gym I'm usually lost at where to start. Also being on deployment the food they have for chow is less than stellar when it comes to options. On my planner it says to stay at 1300 caloric intake per day. If anyone has any ideas, tips, or workout plans I completely open to it. Thanks !

    its 1300 cal + eating back a portion of your exercise calories

    spot targeting is hard to do and typically not successful - so a whole body routine with likely net you better results. ask in the gym on base, sometimes they have folks there who are trainers who can help you (or ask your fellow soldiers if anyone has any training experience and can help you).

    yep, chow hall food sucks, but you can still make healthy choices - chicken, vegetables - order a food scale and measure what you can (i.e. what they serve you and log it)

    Defac food is ok. Most of it is baked chicken or fish, veggies. also depends on the fob if your on a bigger one breakfast is ok to omlets no chesse boiled eggs otmel ect. Nothing to do but work and work out and sweat

    Good luck on your quest. Everyone's body is different. Personally I'm trying to lose a little myself. I was in the gym doing a mixture of cardio and weights. I ended up gaining about 10-15lbs, which was expected due to the weights. I'm really trying to make a weight so I've pretty much cut out the weights temporarily. I'm just running daily and roping. I imagine the cardio will do me well. Best I can say is just try to find what works for you. Oh, and log those meals that way your conscious of exactly what's you're ingesting. I try to go way under what's in my meal budget (with the exercise). The deficit is needed for the weight loss. Anyway. Good luck again!

    3500 calories equals 1 pound

    So to lose 10 pounds you would have to burn 35,000 calories

    So if you'd want to lose 1 pound a week you'd have to burn 3500 in one week which is 500 calories a day or 700 calories a day 5 days a week

    Having a Fitbit has helped me a lot with knowing how much I'm burning during workouts and I try to aim for 1000 calories a day 5 days a week and it's been almost a month and I went from 176 to 159.

    You can't target weight loss. Just focus on the total calories and move more. As you are in a profession where you physical readiness level directly impacts your advancement opportunities, so request time to work out with your team lead. Simply doing squats, pushups, etc at your desk can make a tremendous difference over time.
