Grammar hang out
I guess it's been done before on here, but what's your biggest pet peeve regarding grammar and spelling mistakes? And would you say that this extremely prevalent confusion between 'your' and 'you're' is a result of autocorrect? Or is it a new texting language that doesn't have rules of grammar? Curious!

Incorrect usage of "where." "I remember a time where..." Time is not a location, but an event. "I remember a time WHEN..." This drives me up the wall.
Incorrect use of take vs bring spins my eyeballs. Take and bring are opposites and cannot be used interchangeably.
Your "your/you're" problem is an issue of poor proofreading and a lack of reading overall. Readers know English; all others are only familiar with it.4 -
Apostrophe abuse. Every year, I get Christmas cards addressed to "the Miller's" and it makes me want to scream.5

Oh boy, my grammar can be bad, but I'm even worse with spelling. If it wasn't for spell check I'd be lost.
I remember my grade 7 teacher at the hick school I went to running out of time to teach us whatever grammar lessons she was supposed to and said to us "oh well, you kids won't need to learn that anyway".1 -
I want to loose 50 pds.5

I always notice when people say "I know someone that..." When you're talking about a person, it should be "who," not "that."2

"I need to eat less calories in the evening." No. You need to eat fewer calories.1

I cringe a little with "I wish I knew that before."0

@browneyedgirl749 you nailed all of my favorites. Not that theirs anything wrong with bad grammar, because I make mistakes to.0

@Jimb376mfp one of the more popular MFP sayings, thank you. It's difficult for me to click on those if they are in the subject line, but I try0

Internet grammar police literally make me cringe. By the way I hate when people misuse the word "literally"4

I got an MFP report once for telling a user you lose weight rather than loose weight, so I don't correct anyone's bad grammar or spelling anymore. Too many points against me and I'll be banned for putting other people right.0

I like reading all the corrections here. It is helpful to me. I like learning the tips, thanks!
Spelling especially and grammar are not one of my better skills, oh well! I never payed much attention to it.
I don't mind being corrected, I like it. I'm learning something I didn't know, or was sloppy about. I appreciate criticism too, makes me think.0 -

I know, I know. So your pants will get lose. You always say that. :noway:0 -
"Could of", "should of" and "would of" are contractions that do not involve the word "of" in any way when used properly. Have you even thought about what you are trying to communicate compared to what the words you used actually mean? >.<0

"Less" is used to describe that which is measured in volume. "Less water" or "less sugar."
"Fewer" is used to describe that which is measured by number, as in a grocery store aisle; "fewer items."
Grocery store signs referring to "less items" make me twitchy.1 -
