Random weight gain?

Hi! So I've been following my macro plan that I was previously maintaining my weight on and today when I weighed myself I was up 2 pounds. I'm not sure if this is substantial and I should decrease my macros. If anything, I've been doing more cardio than I was before I gained weight. Should I stay where I am or decrease a little? Thanks!

    Body weight isn't static...it fluctuates throughout the day and from day to day naturally. Maintenance is a range, not an exact weight.

    2 lbs is a normal fluctuation and could be caused by anything from water retention to food content not yet having been expelled (haven't pooped yet). Not a reason to make changes to your plan.

    Hi Cookies :) 2 lb gain for females is normal from week to week (I'm not sure if this applies, no giveaways in your picture or name) OR if you ate slightly more salt, drank more/less water than normal, haven't been regular, or lots of other things. I would recommend sticking with your plan for another week and re-evaluate. Another OR, perhaps you have to lower your macros if you have lost weight since you set them?

    Your weight can fluctuate A LOT due to many factors. The big ones are the amount of digesting food and fluids (poop and pee) in your body, water weight/glycogen stores (water weight goes up and down depending on your workout habits, sodium intake, carb intake...)

    To make sure you're actually losing FAT, do the following:

    - Calculate your TDEE accurately based on your sex, height, weight and activity level.
    - Consume fewer calories than your TDEE (a daily deficit of 500 should result in approx. 1lbs lost per week)
    - Track your calorie intake as accurately as possible with a digital kitchen scale and good MFP database entries
    - Calculate your exercise burnt calories as best as you can, knowing they can be inaccurate, and eat back only a portion of them (50-75%)
    - Weigh yourself often and watch the trend over MONTHS - as long as it's slowly trending downwards, you're golden

    Everyone has already said your weight fluctuates - worry about the trend - as a real life e.g. Monday my weight was up 2 pounds (from last weigh in), yesterday it was down four pounds (from last weigh in, so 6 pounds from monday!).
