Toning up with a caloric deficit

I'm back to using fitnesspal because although I'm no longer overweight I want to tone up. My stubborn body type (ecto-endomorph) means I have to be super strict with my diet to achieve results (lose fat). Does anyone have any tips? Add me if you're on the same journey, let's help motivate each other!

"Toning" up is losing fat to reveal muscle. Which means a calorie deficit, but also lifting to maintain that muscle rather than lose it (along with the fat).
I'm currently cutting to get lean. I eat at a moderate deficit, and keep training volume as high as my diet can handle.1 -
Oh thank you, I'm aiming or a 500 kcal deficit but I'm going to cut 100 kcal a week till I get there, do you think that's necessary? Yes I'm hoping working out will help increase my metabolism too.0

Working out increases calories burned.
Training, with an actual lifting program with a progressive overload, changes physique. 500 calorie deficit is likely too steep as well.0
