Hello out there! So I promised myself that the day I step on the scale and hit one-derland I am going to 1. Scream 2. Jump up and down and 3. Go buy myself a new outfit head to toe to celebrate! I haven't been under 200 pounds since I was in High School and I'm 39 now. I started my journey at around 257 and last time I weighed in I was 203. The past couple of months have been slow going because I started weight training and was all over the place weight wise for a bit. It seems to have leveled out, but now I'm struggling to stay on track! I need to stop cheat eating and eating junk. I've got it in my head that now that I'm working out with both cardio and strength training I can screw off and it won't matter as much. Which is true but I'm also not making any progress. Long story short I need a motivational kick in the *kitten*. Who wants to help me out here! :smiley:

    Start looking around for your one-derland outfit. If you have something really cute picked out it might spur you on to get there so you can buy it.

    Not into kicks. Or motivation either. I'm on a mission to change the name of this board to determination.

    Weight training is the reason I succeeded at weight loss. Not because of the WL benefits. Not sure there are any. Weight training trained my brain. WL is training in reverse.

    Once I started building muscle I came to believe that just following Arnold 101 and eating enough, I could not fail. It was just the laws of physics and determination.

    Likewise WL, is just the laws of physics. A properly calculated calorie deficit cannot fail. People fail because they give in to discouragement before they get the math right.

    If I read your post right, the problem is right there to see.

    You've sold yourself a bill of goods. As Poisonedpawn78 points out, the gym is not the way to WL. My unscientific observation is you need to think opposite. If you're training hard, you need to carefully plan your menu to support your workouts and follow it. You are walking a fine line. If you can't, you may have to chose between training and WL.

    Good luck. Lots of benefits to exercise. The mental aspect is under appreciated.

    80% what you eat 20% exercise. Like someone else said you can't out exercise a bad diet. :/
