Hi I am Lesley..... Anyone else out there a Veggie! Do you find it annoying that there is no option to put that in when setting My Fitness Pal?

why would it need to be an option? Being a vegetarian doesn't change how much protein or sodium you need.

Seconding the question, what purpose do you envision that serving?

Lesley, what type of vegetarian are you. I mean do you eat fish or no animal protein at all? You can set it for carbs, which will allow you to monitor your carbohydrate in take if that is what concerns you.

Vegetarians don't eat fish. You're thinking of a pescatarian.

I'm vegan, but can't imagine any utility mfp having that info would have, unless they're going to adjust some of your requirements based on bio-availability, or do something like specifically track certain things you might have problems with (lysine, for example) and/or not track things you don't have problems with (tracking cholesterol is sort of pointless for example).

It feels like if you need/want that level of micromanagement of nutrition intake, cronometer is a better option anyways.

Lysine tracking would be cool, but since most labels don't list it and the database here is based mainly on users entering label information, it would be more frustrating than helpful.

I second the recommendation for Cronometer for anyone (vegan or not) who wants that greater breakdown of nutritional information. I log there and here and I find it to be really illuminating.

Welcome to MFP! Fellow vegetarian here :)

MFP defaults to the same macro split for all new accounts, but you can change that by clicking on the My Home tab (far left of the screen when you log in), then on Goals, then on the Edit button inside the box labeled Daily Nutrition Goals.

Here is a really cool MFP group for vegetarians that you should check out if you're interested: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/45-happy-herbivores
