I'm 5'6 and my weight fluctuates in between 140 to 150 pounds. My goal weight is in between 128 and 135. However, I have such low self esteem/confidence. Lately, I've been having binges that really make me feel ashamed in myself. I've been binging frequently lately, and need to get back on track. Can anyone help? I really just need to gain self control and get my mindset back in the right place, but I'm having trouble doing that. I have a lot of muscle, and I'm not actually overweight, but I hate my body and if I lost the weight I want to, I know that my self confidence would be boosted so much. Please help?

Have you set up a plan that is appropriate for your activity level? I've found that logging the calories I eat gives me a nice picture of how much I should be eating every day, and I challenge myself every day to stay within that calorie budget. That is what helps me with self control. Losing the weight hasn't boosted my self confidence all that much, although I'm really enjoying seeing that scale show my progress. I am finding that learning to be disciplined is what helps me to feel confident, about weight loss and everything else in general. The fact you're on this website tells me that you are on the right track. Be sure to congratulate yourself for your successes, and don't beat yourself up whenever you fall off the wagon. And be nice to yourself. Would you be this critical of your best friend's body? Of course not! So focus on your strengths (you're muscular!) and you're motivated (way to go!)

Buy/borrow the book "Eating less" by Gillian Riley. It handles exactly the issues you are describing.

do you really think you'll be happy and self confident at 135, but not 140?? if you are muscular and not overweight I don't see what the problem is - certainly doesn't sound bad enough that it should be impacting your self confidence and making you hate your body. sounds like there may be some body dysmorphia going on here - have you ever sought out help for this?

exactly what i was going to say - is 5-10lbs really going to magically make all the difference OP?

sounds like you need to work on your self esteem regardless of your weight.
