I love my job but have a very stressful pass the buck, co-worker, She is a great person but when stress gets to her she takes it out on the rest of us. Still trying to figure out how she can live so miserable... ANYWAY,, I can be a stress eater, boredom eater, you get the drift,, Some days at work are crazy stressful and I'm doing my best not to over eat or mindless munch,, and to stay away from her unhealthy treats that are always on her desk. Any ideas to help to keep me from turning to snacks or food while sitting at my desk.... The cravings or urges can be nuts.. Lost 8 lbs on vacation last week and would like to keep them off and keep going. Any help or suggestions welcome. :)

When you get stressed walk away from your desk instead of reaching for the treats? You need to find a way to manage the stress. You could also bring in some lower calorie snacks to munch on or gum to chew in situations like that.

Bring your own healthy snacks and force yourself to eat some veggies/fruits before you allow yourself an unhealthy snack. Drink lots of water. Take a break from your desk and have a quick 5 minute walk instead of eating.

Force yourself to do 10 pushups before you allow yourself to have something (might look funny in the office but it's pretty effective).

Tea! Lots of tea. Better loose leaf herbal tea with a tea pot to there is a whole process of preparing it in the kitchen and waiting a few minutes. Then when you drink the tea try to only think about the tea.

All good suggestions here. I agree you should plan and bring a healthy snack with lots of protein like yogurt, cheese, nuts, some sliced turkey, etc. for yourself to get through these every afternoon "stress sessions".

Have planned meals and decide to not eat between those set times.

I think most people have some level of stress at work. I teach and I have to deal with not only coworkers, but 8 year olds and parents as well!

What worked really well for me was to plan ahead. I planned all my meals and snack and recorded them all in the morning. I knew if I had space for a little bite of brownie , when I left in the morning. I also had foods around that I could eat when I got the urge.

Exercise is much better than food to combat stress. Get away at lunchtime. Take a breather in the afternoon. Both without co-workers.

Totally agree,, everyone has work stress,, this co-worker is.. hard to explain, I had tried to explain to my fiancé but he never understood till he stopped into work and saw her losing it at her computer lol and that was a mild afternoon.. working real hard to not let her miserable attitude rube off....

Thanks for all the ideas,, some of them I have started doing like the healthy snacks and choices,, going for walks,, biggest one was that I started taking my lunch everyday and walking away.... thanks for the feedback, shows me I'm on the right path with some of the choices I'm making... :)

ugh. I'd be looking for another job. Small offices with difficult anxious coworkers are not worth it.

I have seriously been considering it and we have started discussing it at home, with where I live there is a wide area I could look, closer to home, as I have an hour drive to and from work every day..

Oh, heck yeah. Time to move on. The commute would be a dealbreaker for me.

Last job I had was like that, and I'll never work in a small office again unless I have privacy - i.e. a door or a cubicle and the ability to wear headphones.
