Diminishing calorie goal slowly

To continue losing weight, we must lower our daily calorie goals. Some folks do this in big lumps of 50 or 100. I've decided to recalculate TDEE7-3500 each time I lose a new pound. That way, my calorie goal goes down by about 10 calories at a time which is much easier to incorporate in my eating choices without noticing it or feeling deprived.
Anybody else do it this way?

Normal fluctuations accommodate several pounds. I'd recalculate every 10 pounds.2

This. 5 at the most. You are trying to be far more "precise" than reality allows for.1 -

I have done it that way in the past but then resented the bigger drops on the goals. I find it helps to let it sneak up on me a few calories at a time. Much of this is a mind game, of course.1 -
Whatever works.
I use my own numbers now, and I understand that even 200 calories one way or the other doesn't matter for me.
When I was losing I changed it every 10 pounds, but I rarely was able to stick to the (IMO too low) numbers anyway. That's why I like using my own data.0 -

I disagree. The scales can lie about how much you weigh but if they say you weigh less, then you weigh less.
And as the goal changes are so small, it means that they can adjust slowly and even if they were wrong about their weight it wont impact them a great deal to be short of those calories.1 -
Actually, I do something similar. I recalculate every week and sometimes it goes up if I'm up that week. I mostly still eat the about same but maybe work out a few more minutes to compensate. Or I'll cut that 10 or so calories in an almost unnoticeable way. I understand what the OP is getting at, dropping my calories slowly over time just seems less daunting. In actuality, no matter how we do it, we still all arrive at the same place.0

whatever technique that keeps you focused on your intake and your goals is best. The higher the frequency of your measurements, the higher your emotional tolerance for variation needs to be.0

Is a 10 pound difference really that big of a jump?0

Not trying to derail the thread, but @cmriverside, your cats colors look very similar to my cat!
Is yours a ragdoll by chance? Or something very similar?0 -

Maybe it is your cat. Do you let your cat out? Some cats make themselves at home under more than roof.1 -

It's not even my cat.
I think it was a Balinese. The picture was at my local natural pet store. The kitten was playing on the counter with that wheat grass. So cute. No white paws, if I remember correctly. There is a huge Ragdoll that lives downstairs from me, though. He runs the building.
...at the time I had a long-haired Siamese-mix at home.0 -
I got no calories to play with
1200 to lose 30lbs
1200 to to maintain
Luckily they can't chop any off at my birthday or I would be a breathstarian by now.
(Well if they took 50 at my birthday like lorrpb I would get 650 a day, sob)
Cheers, h.
Oh I think how often one adjusts ones calories depends on how close to goal one is. With 50+, every 10 lbs; less than 20, every 5 lbs, roughly.1
