    Why the rush?

Eat at a reasonable deficit and you won't be afraid of losing your hair because 1000 calories daily is too little.

40lbs in two months is not going to happen under healthy means. Not that what you're suggesting is healthy in any form.

Under-eating like that is going to set you up for failure or malnutrition / hair loss / muscle loss.

What Are the Risks of Rapid Weight Loss?

Rapid weight loss creates physical demands on the body. Possible serious risks include:
    • Gallstones, which occur in 12% to 25% of people losing large amounts of weight over several months
    • Dehydration, which can be avoided by drinking plenty of fluids
    • Malnutrition, usually from not eating enough protein for weeks at a time
    • Electrolyte imbalances, which rarely can be life threatening

Other side effects of rapid weight loss include:
    • Headaches
    • Irritability
    • Fatigue
    • Dizziness
    • Constipation
    • Menstrual irregularities
    • Hair loss
    • Muscle loss

You probably won't be able to keep that up long enough to get to the hair falling out part of u set eating.

1500 is the minimum, but at 80-90# overweight, you should probably be consuming more. Have you put your stats and goal into MFP to find out a reasonable deficit? You can safely lose about 1% of body weight a week.

1500 calories AND eat back a portion of the calories you earn from exercise. Some of us can eat 100% of them; others need to eat less, like 50%. Start with 50%.
    1. If after 4 weeks you have lost what your weekly weight loss goal is set to, do nothing.
    2. If you have lost more, eat back more of those exercise calories.
    3. If you have lost less, there is quite likely an issue with your food logging. Are you planning to use a food scale to measure your food?

Really? You think this is the major problem with this horrible plan?

I second entering your stats & correct activity level on your MFP profile and eat the calories it says for a 2 lb/week weight loss goal. Do moderate exercise a few times a week if it is your desire to do so. Twice a day every day is asking for injury and unnecessary. Eat back at least a portion of any exercise calories. Don't limit yourself to those foods... eat a variety of things that you actually enjoy. And what's with the 71 days? Forget about it. Aim for a journey of 71 years, the vast majority of it comprised of maintaining your weight with the good habits you learn.

This is a really bad idea. Your hair falling out will be one of the lesser problems you will encounter.

    exactly

when one loses weight, what do you lose?

    fat, water or muscle

the approach outlined above is a disaster

Here is exactly how it will go.
    1. You will try it and love it because your dropping weight
    2. Depending on your will power, you will fight your body over not getting enough calories
    3. You give in and just cheat once
    4. You see the scale go up by almost 6 pounds get discouraged and binge eat and then you weigh more then you started
    5. You gain weight, lose more self esteem. Its a bad plan.

I know what it is like to have that much weight and how you wish it could be gone sooner. It just doesn't work that way. I am doing 1200 calorie diet based on MFP recommendation and have lost two pounds each week. Ive lost 12 total. Don't punish yourself. I consider my life style diet change a form of self healing, and have educated myself a lot. I refuse to punish myself to be thinner. Why do you need to lose that so fast? If you feel that kind of pressure, stop doing that to yourself. Add me as a friend if you want a pal along for the journey, I have about that to lose. :)

So we'll see you back here in a year when you've regained whatever you lose and then some. Maybe then you'll be ready to do something sustainable!

I'm surprised you aren't more concerned that the little man won't salute you in the mornings with that kind of low intake.

I can understand wanting to lose it so fast. I've done it all.. stupid cleanses..vlcd...dexatrim(lol...)-starving myself... Please try to slow down and accept that it's very bad for your body and mind to try to lose the weight that fast. I was only successful after I finally learned patience with my diet and nutrition. Be patient, stick to the plan, but please eat some more :) it's not easy, but it's worth it... I promise!
