    I'm not anymore. But since my husband is muslim and Ramadan just recently finished I did join in with him & his family purely for my weight loss

    I'm female have been doing 5:2 IF for over a year and a half. I usually only eat one or two meals a day. My body has obviously not tried to hold on to any fat as I've lost 130 lbs.

    You may need to expand your research to something beyond YouTube/Internet doctors. And by the way, he's a Doctor of Chiropractic, not a medical doctor. I'm not taking insulin advice from a chiropractor. Nor a doctor that sells things like his 'Raw Wheat Grass Juice' Powder on his website. Quick internet search and oh look, disciplinary action and a fine related to bogus tests. Yeah no. A little research into reputable sources can go a long way and save a lot of frustration. It's worth it.

    Does anyone do IF along with Keto? I've been Keto since January 1st and thinking of incorporating IF.

    Good to see so many people following the same 16/8 or 20/4 so easy to follow and the results speak for themselves. Anyone else feel so much more awake in the mornings?

    I was never a morning person, and this was one of the many benefits I encountered after starting 16:8. I love it!

    nope. if you are in a deficit your body will not hold onto fat. stress can have an effect but even with IF you have to watch your calories. you can still gain weight eating too much and one meal a day has no bearing on weight loss.many people here lose weight and only eat one meal a day. as long as you are getting your calories in thats all that matters.

    why are you eating under 1000 calories? are you very short? elderly?sedentary or a combo of all 3? you should not be eating less than 1200 calories unless under a drs orders. you are risking health issues if you are doing that every day,

    I started Monday morning and am really hoping it helps me lose these last 15 lbs! I was going to do the 16:8 but then I read that that is recommended for me but women should do 14:10. Has anyone else heard that or done it the 14:10 way? How did you like it and did you have good results? :) Thanks in advance!

    meal timing doesnt matter for weight loss. so if you want to do 14:10 do that but its not going to be any different for men vs women.I was doing 16:8 for years and now I decided not to fast anymore. its just im hungrier now earlier because Im more active.to lose weight you have to be in a deficit of calories and the last 15lbs will take awhile to lose. the less you have to lose the longer it will take.

    This. Charlie and I butt heads about a lot of things, but I'm with her here. Whether its IF, Keto, Low carb, or any other such plan, you still have to watch what you're putting into your mouth. That was my first mistake with keto, the belief it was some cool thing that allowed you to eat as much as you want. you can't. Now there can be arguments as to what effect certain diets have on one's metabolism etc. But the bottom line is, you still have to watch your calories.

    Having said all that, I still believe there is a such thing as good foods and bad foods if you're looking at overall health. I seriously considered IF, but really I like to nibble here and there throughout the day. I'm lucky that I can have two or three bites and be good for an hour.

    Hi everyone im interested in this intermittent fasting, however i workout everyday. Weights/cardio. Im 5'2 and 63kg or around 120lbs i think. I feel sick from not eating and get light headed etc. But really want to lose the last of my body fat but keep my muscle. How do you all cope while working out?

    Also i did a run on day 6km so i think that is around 3miles. I felt ok. Got home and was sick. Dont think i should do that again and that was first thing in the morning after a fasted dinner.

    Also how many calories do you eat when your eating? Do you aim for the daily target or alot less? Feel free to add me

    you should be aiming for what MFP gives you. if you want to lose fat and keep muscle get between 0.8 and 1g of protein per lb of body weight and keep a deficit. you dont need to fast to lose fat and it wont help to lose fat/weight any faster(unless you are seriously undereating which I do NOT recommend). its just a way of eating and can help most adhere to their deficit. you should never eat less than mfp gives you on a daily basis,unless under the care of a dr.that also means eating back 25-50% of your exercise calories.

    Oh my - hopefully your drop DOESN'T stay consistent. 4.6 pounds in 4 days would be a weekly average of 8.05 pounds. Much of this is loss is water weight (thankfully) as your body can only metabolize so much fat in a day.

    Also - unless you are under medical supervision you should be eating at least 1200 calories (before exercise)....it's really hard to get adequate nutrition on less. It's harder for our bodies to fuel existing lean muscle mass on large deficits. The trade-off for fast weight loss is a higher % of body fat.

    I started this on Friday, first fast was 19hrs, yesterdays was 22hrs...however I feel it will be more beneficial to me if I stick to the 16:8 through the week as I will nreak my fast after my workout which will be around 1.15pm...

    But I do have a question :-) what if my fast is longer but its not purposely done? Will it effect me unhealthily? By this I mean, here would be my typical day:

    Break Fast at 1.30pmish? (After workout)
    7pmish (no later) is when I would eat my Dinner but then I dont plan on eating anything after this as I would most probably have eaten my daily calories which means the next day when I break my fast I will have fasted for 18.5 hrs....is this ok??

    I'm doing 23:1. One meal a day. Love it. Switched from keto. Keto was too restricting for me and I always craved sweets. One meal, anything I want, hardly counting, just eat till stuffed! I tried 16:8, 18:6.. but it just got me eating too much for those hours. So I limit to one meal, done. It's pretty easy.

    I am doing a 23:1 at the moment, combined with Keto, I am hoping that it will help me loose the amount I need so that my Dr. will stop looking at me funny. So far I am finding the combination to be great, I have not weighed myself yet as it is too soon for that, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other ways to optimize weightless (I do cardio too, though I am dying at the gym at the moment).

    Definitely! I make sure to eat at my maintenance at my one meal. That's why I am so full from it! Eat like a King!

    that sounds like very aggressive weight loss. how many calories are you eating? almost 30 lbs inless than a month or so is too much unless you are severely obese? Im talking over 400 lbs.fasting isnt supposed to equal fast weight loss its supposed to be to help adhere to your calorie allowance.

    I do! Been doing Keto for almost 6 months and fasting for about 5. I do 20:4. I love it! It has helped so much with my binge eating.

    Some people Intermittent Fast naturally (breakfast skippers for example) so they do it basically for the rest of their lives.
    My brother is not a breakfast fan and basically does IF naturally. This guy eats nothing but junk and barely gains weight.

    Hey I unknowingly have been doing intermittent fasting for like 5 years, I can't stand to eat in the mornings, so it suits me well

    Is this the same Dr Eric Berg who practises these techniques?
