Debates

Do we not have a separate sub forum for debates? I ask this because I continue to see to see nearly every post get hijacked into one. I don't mean to complain but that's honestly not why I came here. In addition, these debates oftentimes very uncivil.

Have you been on the internet long? We do have a debate section. Maybe when things get off track you can suggest the commenters go there instead. Good luck in your quest to civilize the internet.12

Before all the obvious answers continue, my question was rhetorical. And I'm not on any sort of quest to civilize the internet. But I guess your dripping sarcasm only proved my point.4

To be fair, you posted this in the Food and Nutrition section, so you should really start talking about one of those now or this thread is just as misplaced
Any human conversation can turn into a debate. When someone says something incorrect in a thread, it's kind of hard to say "Please come find my new thread in the Debate forum where I'm explaining why you're wrong", though I suppose that's what you're supposed to do?
Anyway, ummmm, yes I DO eat more fruit in the summer! I think my fave summer-only fruit is nectarines...7 -
Unfortunately you're fighting a losing battle here, you'll never be able to control people or what they have to say, not sure the point of your rhetorical question if you said you're not here to complain though.3

There is a debate forum here, link posted above. People are going to have different opinions on different topics, but MFP is really tame compared to other dieting/food/fitness forums out there.3

Riiiiiiight.... :huh:1

No you're wrong, and probably in leagues with the devil.5 -
There is a debate forum...and this is about the mast tame/civil internet forum I've ever been on...seriously, anyone who thinks this place is crazy has not interneted for very long...
You might also want to keep in mind that there are many longtimers here and sometimes we just like to argue with each other and frankly, there is a lot to debate in regards to health, fitness, and nutrition...it's not one of those topics that are just black and white...it's usually nothing personal, it's basically because we've been around for awhile and "know" each other and we are comfortable...

hehe you ever notice it's the members with less than 100 posts, I have a theory, less than 100 posts they complain about others, after 100 they realize you can't do anything about that and you just sit back and watch others and try to be helpful then at about 500 posts you just don't care enough anymore, say whatever you like and are not easily offended by mean posts etc. Just my thoughts though10 -
double post, havent done that in a while0

"Starvation mode" lol3 -
I honestly think that one of the greatest threats that is facing the future of humanity is the fact that it appears that people wishing to address inaccurate or flat out wrong information are now the people in the wrong, and that it's now more important to be supportive than correct.10

So was posting in the Food and Nutrition section complaining about no one using the Debate section to debate supposed to add irony to the rhetoric and sarcasm?9 -
