Anybody else finding it extra motivating to lose through the syncing with our myfitnesspal? Anyone interested in linking up on FITBIT as well? I have found that my steps have increased my calorie intake but I dont always eat more because of it. Hope others will try this out, and also have success as I have in losing as well. Wishing you well!

I recently stopped syncing my Fitbit from MFP. I am a teacher and set MFP to lightly active. I also had the negative calorie adjustment, but MFP was giving me an extra 1,000+ calories a day for my Fitbit steps. Now I just add my purposeful exercise and eat about 1/2 of those calories back and seem to be back to losing steadily.12

I have my Fitbit synced to MFP. I do definitely find it motivating to see extra calories from my steps. Helps me see when I'm being extra lazy.
The adjustments seem to be pretty accurate for me. It's nice to have some extra wiggle room with calories. I have mine set to sedentary with negative adjustments enabled. I entered 1 lb a week loss which gives me 1260 so it's definitely a motivator to get extra calories to eat!10 -
I like it @RosieRose7673 The negative adjustments force me to get on the treadmill at night and burn more. I just wanted to share the motivation FITBIT syncing provides. We just have to do our part, thats for sure1

I do not sync my calories until I am done eating for the day. The prompt to get up and move every hour definitely helps me. I pretty much know how many calories I will earn every day so I do not pay much attention to them. I just like to see how many calories I get from my day.1

Feel to free to add me on here and on FITBIT the link to my fitbit profile is on my MFP profile2

@laurenebargar sure will! Thanks for offer.....you'll see me shortly0

I don't sync my fitbit because I don't usually log exercise on MFP. (I don't like how it changes my macro goals.) But otherwise, I totally agree. Counting my steps has been an awesome incentive to get up and move more.2

@Blitzia thanks for the info, I didn't know that. But these steps keep me going or burning calories as I should say lol0
-
@ohmsdiva @choppie70 I like that you sync yours at the end of the day but when I sync throughout the day, I am pushed to walk or burn more lol...try it out2

I noticed that as well that the calories seem to be high. Also up if you need fitbit pals as well. https://www.fitbit.com/user/5VJC4N0

My fitbit Charge HR overestimates my calories burned by steps alot. I don't have mine synced anymore.0

@gebeziseva wow...not cool.... @dfavela1988 cool!1

For what it's worth, I've noticed that the calories my fitbit gives me are almost exactly spot on over a 4 month period, with a charge HR for the first couple of months and an Alta HR since May. I've found it really helps motivate me to move more throughout the day and I've been able to lose weight at a reasonable pace (about 5 lbs a month).6

how did you get everything to sync?? I have googled it and done everything they say in the help forums but it still won't0 -
@nicolelarocca9765 just add your fitbit app to MFP app! Then after sync, every time you add steps on fitbit app...It will sync! Let me know how it goes2

I do not think I would walk more. I exercise before I go to work in the morning. By the time I leave the house in the morning I have walked at least 7000 steps and I do get up and move at least 250 steps every hour. Right now my target is 11,000 steps 5 days per week. I have been recently moving it up a bit, but other than that it takes work for me to hit my goal.0 -
7000 before leaving the house? Great!!! More like 900 for me...but 12000-15000 a day...I need more0

@nicolelarocca9765 you got a request (Fitbit)0

Having it on my wrist is enough motivation for me. I average about 18 - 20K steps a day.1 -

I just like the look of the alta better. It's smaller and you can change out the band. I kept having problems with the Charge HR bands peeling off of the center. Fitbit sent replacements, but I felt like something I paid more than $100 for shouldn't need to be replaced every 4-5 months. I've only had the alta since May so I can't really comment on if it holds up better than the Charge, but so far, so good!1 -
I don't know how y'all get so many steps. When I'm teaching for 5 hours I get about 12,000 steps, but on off days I have to work to get anywhere close to 8,000. Also, I'm positive my fitbit doesn't count all my steps, I've watched it not count them. Is this common?0

It happens
But be mindful of you are leaning on a cart while shopping, it sometimes doesn't track because your arm is not naturally swinging front to back.I own a treadmill, so it's easy to watch tv shows from my iPad and track steps.0 -

I have to work for the majority of my steps. An average day, no intentional exercise gets me around 2,000 steps, this was my norm before getting a fitbit.
My daily average since then is between 13k-16k steps a day. My only exercise is walking, I'm walking right now as I'm typing this. Sitting down reading the internet is a waste of time for me now, why not kill 2 birds with one stone and catch up on mfp AND exercise at the same time
