How many calories should I be looking to lose each day through exercise? I'm hoping to lose between 1/2lb and 1lb a week and plan on going for walks 5 times a week (and resting on weekends).

  • You should burn 500-700cals/ day

    A pound of body fat equates to approximately 3500 calories. So if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories (meaning that you burn 500 calories more than you eat each day) you would lose approximately one pound per week.
  • Think I'll stick to losing half a pound a week. Its far more doable for me to burn 250-300 calories a day than twice that to be honest.
