Sorry my writing go mixed up in quotes:
"Amazing; I love reading about your adventures and triumphs. Great admiration of you. When you had "only" done 47 miles you could have told your son that you had done 75km; nice round number for him. But then you went and smashed out the 60 miles.
I can run (not fast), but hate cycling; which is a shame as my husband loves cycling and should probably do more of it. Hmm maybe next time I'm home I'll arrange a short flat cycle ride by the river."10 -
I'm doing C25K and yesterday was day 3 in week 3. I started feeling the music and didn't realize the run section was over! I felt so good that I looked around for someone to brag to .20

I bought a medium shirt this week and it fit great. Was in Xl a few months ago and xxl last year.24

- Saw wedding (not mine) candid photos of myself (YES MULTIPLE ONES) that I DIDN'T hate. In fact I think I look quite attractive in them!!*
- Went to London on Saturday. Briskly walked up/down most of the escalators. Did not get out of breath
*I always look smug in candids (I don't have RBF but I have Resting Smug Face instead :P) but I don't mind this time26 -
A few for me:
My library is coming along: after a bazillion trips down to the basement to bring up books, I'm nearly done. There are probably a couple dozen books in some semblance of organized piles on the floor, but most are on shelves now. I guess there's a couple dozen still in the basement. One major bummer: I realized I have to take down four long shelves -- ugh: ladder, unscrewing everything, weighs a ton -- because I should use more and stronger / bigger brackets. No need for weight lifting at the gym the day I do that!
The Great Purge continues: I probably have a dozen more books to go out in the recycling (damp, warped, smell weird) and fifty or so that are fine but I no longer need and am going to donate this week (along with yet another bag of clothes).
I stayed in my calorie range yesterday (wheee!), and this morning I'm phoning my doctor to get something checked out. My normal M.O. is to just gut things out.
And, finally, a fantastic and unexpected thing: my credit has been messed up since experiencing a pretty bad accident over a decade ago. I (finally?) got a mental health diagnosis that, at first, I really, really hated and resisted. But (finally?) stopped resisting, agreed to try meds, and life is starting feel a lot better. I feel a little more in control of things and able to keep up with what, I guess, most would consider basic stuff. (And it used to be pretty basic and easy for me ...) Anyway, yesterday I got an email from a credit card saying they were upping my credit limit by quite a bit.
I wonder what life will be like in 6 more months?!

Ran to catch the train, had too far to go to get to the station on time if I walked the whole way. was surprised at how much time I cut off considering how slow I thought t was running23

I ran a razor over my legs this morning while I was in the shower after exercising. Just like that.....no logistics planning worthy of a military operation, no sitting on the floor or getting stuck trying to bend down in my little shower cubicle. I just bent my leg, lifted it and shaved it while standing on the other one. Just like that. Was only afterwards it hit me I haven't been able to do anything like that for years!43

Almost every morning for the past three weeks, I have successfully walked past the pastry carts and stopped at the fruit and veggie cart instead. Instead of my daily bagel, danish or doughnut, I have bananas, blueberries, grapes, carrots or cherry tomatoes.28

That's the longest bike ride I've ever done.
My husband was "HOW FAR???"
My son's reaction was "Why not 50 miles? You could have cycled to the local shops and back, that's the three miles you needed!". Thank you, child.
@Madwife2009 OH You were just challenged by your Son. Accept the challenge on the condition that he does the ride with you.
If you don't have them already - Gel Bike Shorts really help with the sit bone discomfort.
Glad to read that you knocked out a few more for a daily total of 60.
With proper fueling/snacks and hydration you could easily knock off a century ride, not at a blistering pace but it would still be a century ride.10 -
Today work schedules returned to five 8-hour days. We have been enjoyed seven weeks of four 10-hour days. I’m bummed, so this morning I said *kitten* it, I’ll just go to the drive thru at McD and get an Egg McMuffin. Then I packed up lunch and headed in. As I approached the McD, I thought about the yogurt and also the instant oatmeal I keep at work for days like this and kept driving.
I am so glad that this thread is here so I have somewhere to pat myself on the back where the community understands this little thing.

Our club is scheduled for a century ride on August 12th. hopefully the weather will cooperate. My longest ever ride was 57 miles. I know why not 60 but was content to ride my age that day.11 -
Had labs drawn last week. Got a results call this morning. My cholesterol and LDL numbers are both down by at least 30 points since January! My blood pressure is also way down and I'm hoping to lose those pills. And I finished week 1 of my half marathon training plan. On to week two...
(A year ago, I would have laughed myself silly at the words "half marathon"!)28 -
The one armed push-up...
Couldn't do one before, tried last night and nailed it25 -
Two to report today:
1. Dinner last night: Everyone ate burgers and I had a salad with burger patty on top. Today's lunch: Braised chicken with a big variety of vegetables. The NSV: Every bite was DELICIOUS! I really enjoyed my meals even though just a couple of months ago I would never have been appetized with a plate so full of veggies. I truly didn't feel like I was missing out on the burger with the bun, or any of the cheesy, fried, junk food at the work cafeteria.
2. My scale is not showing me drastically lower numbers, but a few months ago I bought a shirt that didn't quite fit. It was tight all around and didn't give me any breathing room but I realllly liked the shirt. At the time I bought it, I wasn't even really planning on losing weight. I think I was just crossing my fingers that one day I'd be able to wear it. Well, lo and behold! This morning I decided to try it on and it slipped on, perfect fit. So despite the fact that my measurements haven't changed and the scale isn't my friend, my body is definitely making changes.16 -

BTW - the total estimated calorie burn for the 1/2 mile swim, 15 miles bike and the 5k is about 1,800 calories.

11 - Run the entire 5k.

1. I went to my small-town GP last week and his wife (also a doctor in the practice) asked if my kid had a nanny/who I was because she didn't recognize me.
2. I got an iDXA scan today. It was mostly green and yellow, with the only red (high-fat) areas on the outside of my lower thighs and inside of calves. No red areas above the pelvis! The areas that had the red were not surprising, given my severely limited range of motion in my legs.
3. My BMI is currently 41.76 points below the BMI from my highest weight. I have decreased my BMI by an entire morbidly obese person! OK, that may be a bit of a scale victory but I'll take it anyway.44 -
Went to a theme park today and ate far too much. So, when I got home, I worked out that I had time for a quick bike ride and for my son and I to do our 5km run, which would help to offset some of the over-indulging I'd done at lunch.
Set off on the bike ride, fairly warm, a bit windy but seemingly manageable. But I misjudged the wind direction completely, and ended up cycling 10 miles into a direct headwind. Wouldn't have minded so much if it had been the 10 miles to the point where I turn around and go home, but no, it had to be the 10 miles home. It was really, really hard work, complicated by having to circumnavigate a street funfair plus two sets of roadworks (and, naturally, the lights always turn red as you approach them).
But I still did the route in a few seconds under my usual time. That's a win in my book.
Got back, put the bike away, ran indoors to kiss the two youngest children goodnight and to grab my older son for our run. Had less than an hour to do the run and get back to my oldest's Air Cadet unit to collect her. My poor son has developed a sore throat today (which I didn't know about) and he didn't say anything beforehand, so off we went. He struggled, a lot, and I said that we should go home but he wanted to keep going. So we did. We finished the run in a great time (for us) and shaved 86 seconds off our previous (non-ParkRun) best time. And got to my daughter in time.
Then we had a 1.7 mile walk home.
I think that I paid for lunch . . . even if I didn't, it was worth it anyway, it was delicious21 -
For the first time in many MANY years, today I walked up a flight of stairs without getting winded.42

Went to an all-day training today. These trainings ALWAYS have tempting, unhealthy food choices for lunch. I chose 2 small glazed chicken breasts (passing up barbecue sandwiches and steak sandwiches) and a mixed greens salad (passing on pasta salad). I was the only person at my table who skipped dessert. The awesome part about it was that I still thoroughly enjoyed what I ate! Usually at these events I pick junk and feel my sugar go up and down all day, and often bring or buy candy in the afternoon. Today, I brought almonds from home! No after-lunch lethargy, and no sugar cravings! I even took a short walk after lunch!
To top it all off, a coworker TOLD me (didn't ask me!) that I'd lost weight! I've purposely avoided the scale over the past month plus (because I tend to obsess over numbers), so I really needed to hear that!30 -
I've been told I looked like a teen twice in the last two weeks.
First time was at the dog park when a friend saw me from a distance. She told me she recognized the dog right away but couldn't figure out who the teenager was walking in with her!
The other was at a clothing store tonight. I took a fancy dress into the dressing room and the saleslady came in and asked to see it on. When I showed her, she smiled big and said I looked like a teen.
Ok, so I know once was from a distance and once was from someone paid to be nice--but they used the same word, so I'll take it.
I'm 51.43 -
I've got several!
1) Saw the lady I housesit for every summer and she said I looked amazing.
2) I have actual callouses on my hands - from weightlifting!
3) The jumping twist exercise I used to do as a tabata workout is not high enough intensity for me anymore. Tabata uses 20 second bursts of maximal effort, and I can do it longer than 20 seconds at top speed without maxing out my effort now. I have to find an exercise that's harder for me.
4) I was looking at YouTube workout videos and found one that I decided was too advanced for me - it involved a lot of burpees and one move which was throwing all your weight on your hands and kicking your heels together which I was pretty sure I couldn't manage. But then I said what the heck, I'll try it and if I have to modify, so be it. And I did everything! I may have looked like a very acrobatic walrus but I did it anyway!36 -

I average over 21K steps per day... up from 15k since January.
My resting heart rate (per my Fitbit) is now a 49, down from 55 in January.
I'm taking an intermediate/advanced swim class as I hope to one day train for a MINI triathlon.
I've steadily increased my (jogging) mileage to a little over 20 miles a week - up from not being a runner at all in October 2016.26 -
On Sunday saw a friend I haven't seen for a while, she said you've lost so much weight and look great. She told my husband he'd better watch out or I'd be looking for a new man. I love it I'm 72 !!35

I take selfies when I exercise and send them to my very supportive boyfriend!
Just to show how big this is for me: I had my picture photoshopped for my professional website :-)
All the picture shy people will undertand the NSV in these sweaty disheveled selfies22 -
My favourite skirt is falling off me and I can only just about make it fit with a belt! It was a bittersweet realization.24

For the past couple of days, I haven't woken up ravenous. Yay appetite normalcy23

I have to say, give it a go. At the worst, you'll confirm that you don't like cycling. Ask your husband if you can go with him; I used to go with my DH and we had a great time. He won't go with me any more as apparently I cycle too fast, I'm too fit for him to keep up with me and he "doesn't want to slow me down". Gotta love him12 -

Well, I don't know about that, a century ride seems pretty impossible from where I'm at just now. Something to aim for though and there are a few months left before the bad weather sets in again. I'm going to find a training programme and see how bad it is!
