I feel so sick right now...

I cannot believe myself right now. I have done really well over the past two months - educating myself about nutrition, cutting out sodas completely (with one or two exceptions), staying in my calorie ranges, hitting the gym consistently. I hit my first goal a lot quicker than I thought I would. I've battles my cravings and have overcome them on many occasions. Today, however, I was completely derailed. It started out fine, with my normal shake for breakfast and a cereal bar for a morning snack. I even had a pretty standard lunch and all that.
Then I went to a work meeting and it all went downhill from there. Donuts, cake, pizza, Dr. Pepper.
I've eaten almost 4000 calories today. OH MY GOD.
The sad thing is that I used to eat like this almost daily. This used to be normal for me. And honestly, I can't understand why or even how. I feel so sick to my stomach, cramping, bloated, exhausted, and like I am covered in a layer of grease and grime. I went to the gym to try to undo a tiny fraction of the damage I've done today and I had to leave after only 25 minutes. This is completely unreal. Even the worse workout I ever had doesn't even come close to the pain (physically and mentally) I am feeling right now. I feel like I just want to throw up because I feel so thick and heavy and weighted down by this junk.
So, to all of my MFPers who may be struggling, I give you this one piece of advice: it is true when they say "you are what you eat". No amount of instant gratification through food is worth your health, sanity, or your life.
Man, I feel so nauseous...

Don't feel bad. We all have bad days like these. Now you realize that eating like this is no good and also your body can identify what is beneficial and what is not. Keep your chin up! Tomorrow is a new day to get back on track :flowerforyou:0

It's kind of scary what we used to do to ourselves, isn't it? Now the question is: what are you going to do about this? I hope you forgive yourself for being human, move on and start again tomorrow. You have done a great job so far! Don't let one bad day derail your progress.0

Please don't beat yourself up. You have worked very hard. You deserve a break. One day is not going to derail your entire weight loss regimen unless you let it. You have a whole new day to work with tomorrow. Telling yourself that you can't have those things is what will drive you back to those old habits. Some gratification is really okay. Besides, sometimes it helps your metabolism to raise your calorie intake once in awhile. You will be back on track tomorrow and everything will be fine. Put away those negative feelings about what you did today because they can do more harm than good. Best of luck for a better day tomorrow. I know you can do this!0

Don't beat yourself up over this, mialsya. Isn't it amazing how your body can no longer handle that type of eating? So you'll physically suffer for it for a day, but don't give in to the mental torture. Next time you're tempted to overdo it, you'll remember how you felt after today. You're doing a great job...keep it up!0

Besides, you have given yourself more than enough time to meet your goals. You can afford this. Just don't let yourself make a habit of it.0

Every day is a new beginning. Congratulations on doing so well for so long AND the fact you used eat that much without feeling bad. Now you know your health is more important so you are on your way.0

Settle down, take a breath. get some water into you. Gave a great sleep, see you tomorrow and you will be back on track! At least you realize what is going on. One day isn't going to kill you. Congratulations on changing decisions for the better.
You are allowed to still have fun in life. If you never go off your new norm.. whats the fun in life?0 -
You poor thing. Think of it as a case of 'food poisoning'. My thought is to start drinking water to flush everything out, and maybe take a shower so you feel cleaner on the outside.0

One day at a time. I frequently go over my daily calories. I used to 'pro-rate' the off the wagon days extra things over the next few days, but that's too much like work to do all the time.
The important thing, get lots of sleep. and tomorrow is a new day. And if you feel guilty still, just try to do 5 minutes more of activity on anything that it is you like to do activities on tomorrow too.
I'm not expert on foods. but dietary calories don't immediately translate into gaining weight calories. Sure. there is the 3500 calories to one pound of fat thing. but when you eat say the 4000 calories over your daily amount, not all of those are going to 'stick' right away right. If anything, if you are like me and have gotten used to eating healthy clean foods, then your body is going to go thru some severe tissue rejection kind of response. cramps, aches, and let's say... more regular than usual for the next little bit. So that's got to be some of the calories right there not getting absorbed too.
But for me, as a jogger type, I use these occasional (about 1 in 6 lately) over the calories days as a stock up day. Because running or biking ridiculous amounts of time (more than an hour or two), I just can't do that with the food I could possibly eat in a single day. I need these over stock calorie days to give me the stored energy to do this. So go kick some butt tomorrow, or the next day, or when ever you are feeling better from the food imbalance side effects .. let me know if you feel more on fire or energetic too I bet you will.0 -
