Doubts about my period.

I already apologize for my bad English but I'll try to be as clear as possible! I heard that you may get some weight during and before you're period. I am actually at my second day and the days before have been horrible because I was always checking my scale! Each time I found some extra pounds and it has been this way for four day. I promised to myself not to do again before my period's end but it's so hard! Anyway.. when am I supposed to lose this weight? During or after the period? Because.. I AM supposed to lose it, right? I didn't eat more than usual, quite the opposite! Can you help me? I am getting crazy!

If you have kept your calories the same then its water weight, just eat as normal and drink plenty to flush it out. No one can say how long it will take as everyone is different but usually by the 2-3 days after finishing the weight should be gone but its very often much sooner.0

Common reason for weight gain during your period is water retention. A lot of women (myself included) will crave and overeat at least the week before their period begins. Water retention can be combated by decreasing sodium intake and increasing fluids. Exercise is a good way to "burn" out the sodium in the body as long as fluids are going in. Hope this helps!0

Your body can fluctuate about 3 pds daily. Which is why it is so bad to weigh yourself all the time.
There are so many variable involved. With fluid intake as well as sodium intake.
My Advise "Back away from the scale" take a breath. Give it a few days.
Try to limit weigh-ins to once a week, same scale, same time of day, everything as close to the same as possible for the most accurate readings0 -
Weighing yourself during your period is probably why people advise you not to weigh yourself too often. It is such an unpredictable time. I gained 700 grams about 2 days before my period started. Since then, I've been carrying on eating as normal and exercising and have lost 1.2kilos. I'm nearing the end of my period but I think (and really hope) that I have more weight that'll come off without me having to do any extra exercise since I gained it without doing anything bad (hope that makes sense!) I'm not sure when it'll come off, hopefully in a couple of days.
Don't worry too much about it. It's different for everyone. Just remember that having your period isn't a good excuse to binge eat or give up your exercise. If you keep doing a good regime throughout your period you will eventually see the results.0 -
I started to only weigh myself once a week and never at that time because it just guts me out and makes me want some chocolate!
Wait until you're done for a few days and give your body time to get back to normal or you'll get in a wee panic and ruin your good work.
Well that's my plan anyway0 -
It is probably water retention, most women suffer with it during their periods. I'd say within a week, you'll be back to normal. x0

When on your period body weight fluctuates so much due to the retaining water, it's crazy!! My body weight after my period will either go up a few pounds or I will have lost four pounds right after. Every time is different and it's normal.0

My body seems to retain loads of water before and during my period and i hate it too! i can see it on my legs and its yuck!
My mum is a doctor and she says it is normal for women 20 plus to gain more weight before and during period, so do not worry it is completely natural
I would advice not weighing yourself though as being on period is demoralising at the best of times without having a higher figure starting back at you!
Hope this helps.0 -

Hi..just thought I'd share...Have you tried drinking loads of water just before you start..like about 3 days before? Not only does it help with any cramping, but your body doesn't feel the need to hold onto the water as much. My mother told me this when I was in my teens and it has always worked for me.0 -
I'm due to start tomorrow and I weighed this morning.. I had only gained a pound, pound and a half.. I'm not sure if thats due to what I ate this weekend, or my period. I won't weigh again until Friday and see what happens.. I generally lose those pounds, plus a one or two more.0
