Question Regarding Carbs

Hey everyone,
As redundant as this question might sound, i had a question regarding carbs and calorie goals.
This weekend, there were a couple of Family Gatherings with a lot of Carb heavy foods. I did my best to limit myself although yesterday i DID have one hot dog and one burger followed by some white rice. Today, i had an ice cream cone as well as more white rice.
Both days i was UNDER my calorie goal, although i did eat more carbs than usual.
What kind of effect will this have on my diet? What will the carbs impact? Am i just looking at another water weight gain for the next two days? And what is the best way to get rid of this guilty feeling of eating carbs as well as the water weight i'll gain?
Thank You!

Nobody will be able to answer this. You may see an increase, you may not. And don't feel guilty that you ate carbs. Unless you have a medical reason to watch your intake of them, they're fine. And water weight fluctuates 24/7, so feeling guilty about that is unnecessary as well.17

I just ate a small bowl of white rice? Should I drink a lot of water or go for a run to sweat it off? I'm still under my calories for the day as well.4

If you are under your calorie goal, why do either? White rice isn't poison. It is high carb and high on the glycemic index, but neither of those things has anything to do with water.14 -
Unless you're trying to get into ketosis, you're fine, especially if you were under your calorie goal. I've eaten Pop-Tarts and have lost weight the next day, because I was still staying within the bounds of my caloric limit. Your weight is going to fluctuate naturally, even in a 24-hour period, no need to sweat
And no need to feel guilty, white rice is delicious6 -
It's hard not to feel guilty after eating white rice and meat but I was starving lol3

You can eat anything you want and still lose weight as long as your calories are under your goal. I lost weight eating ice cream and pizza. I just made sure my overall calories were less than I needed to maintain my weight.8

You shouldn't feel guilt about eating, ever. There's nothing immoral about eating food. If I were you, I would work on my relationship with food. Stop thinking of food as bad or good, it's just food. You'll lose weight as long as you are in a calorie deficit. Don't worry about the ups and downs on the scale and focus on the overall trend.

Thanks so much1

Assuming no medical condition eating carbs while maintaining your deficit will have no impact on your diet2

Really? Just a water weight gain that will disappear in a couple of days as long as I drink water?1
-
You may not even see a gain.
I think you need to take a step back and NOT worry about the day-to-day changes. It's going to be a long process, and you're only going to stress yourself out.2 -
Ok thank you, definitely need to relax lol0

You should not be feeling guilty over eating carbs and protein, especially if you are under your calorie goal. If these feelings persist, especially if they start interfering with your day to day life I'd go and have a chat with your doctor who can refer you to a dietitian. This should give you piece of mind that you are doing fine and there is nothing evil about carbs.4 -

Just like in your other threads, if you eat any food within your calories, you're fine.
No more guilt. Repeat after me: weight loss is all about calories. Carbs are okay.3 -

If I over eat carbs and manage to stay under on calories that means I've usually shorted myself some protein. I don't stress about it as a one off but because I have phsyique goals vs strictly weight loss goals I do tend to feel like I'm short changing myself if I do this a couple times a week.3

If you are trying to lose weight and it's going allright, eat all the ice cream you want. - seriously.
First we demonize fat, then sugar, now carbs in general. There's nothing wrong with them by themselves. You'll find that the balance of your macros is important for satiety and that you need carbs for some things like cardio, and need protein for retaining and maintaining muscle and need fats to maintain hormones; so don't feel bad at all by going over a macro goal unless you have another goal besides hitting your weight loss goal. In that case you should feel really, really bad, jk.2 -
What's causing this guilt is this morning, I was so hungry and had to find something fast to eat so I bought chicken shawarma on top of rice, it was a large with garlic and hot sauce. I felt so guilty after and am super scared to feel bloated or even look bloated tomorrow. I'm trying to drink as much water as possible to hopefully flush out the sugar from the carbs.0

Why does this scare you though? Bloating is temporary.2 -
It sounds like you really like rice cause you keep eating it! Maybe just plan to fit it into your daily calories!2

I think it would be important to consider WHY you think you should feel guilty about eating white rice and meat. You obviously have some ill conceived notions about the impact that certain foods will have on the body - where are these beliefs coming from? Did you read something, did someone tell you carbs are bad, etc. Because understanding where your misinformation came from in the first place will likely help identify other pieces of misinformation that you've been fed (pun intended) and hopefully address them with the actual science and understanding of how food, nutrition, and the overall energy balance that governs weight loss work.s7 -
My diet is about 60 % carbs and still after a weekend of eating Pizza/donuts/burger/cheesecake and/or fries I gain 3 lbs by Monday that are gone by Wednesday that's my "normal"3

You don't have to do anything about water weight. It is perfectly normal for it to come and go based on multiple factors, just one being what you eat and drink. That's how your body works. If you feel uncomfortably bloated, yes making sure you are drinking enough water will help. But it sounds to me like this is all in your head. Every single human being gains and loses water weight every day without ever needing to give it a second thought. We are all trying to tell you - don't worry about it! The weight you want to concern yourself with is fat, and this is controlled by how many calories you eat. :drinker:4 -
Dude! (in my best most supportive and caring vocal tone)Chill!! Water weight comes and goes.Weight (fat) loss is anything but linear. Seriously, Chill!3
