MFP didn't update automatically?? Help!!

Hi, I've just been doing some online research and decided to try alter my goals and then change them back again to see if it made any difference to MFP's generated calorie goal - it did!
Do I regularly need to change and then change back my weight and goal weight to see an accurate calorie intake??
Also, what happens when I've reached my goal weight, I'm assuming I will have to stay on a low calorie diet to maintain this

I don't quite understand your first problem - mfp should give you a calorie goal based on current stats, activity level, and the rate of loss you choose. Changing any of these things will change your calorie goal.

When you've lost weight, your maintenance calories will be lower than they were before because you are lighter and have less "body" requiring energy to function. Your calories will be higher than the calories you were eating to lose though

Sorry, probably didn't quite phrase it very well!
I put in my starting weight and goals and have been working from those calorie suggestions. Today, I changed my goal weight to something lower BUT then changed it BACK to my original goal (just to see if anything changed, due to my few lbs weight loss) and it did change. My suggested calorie intake has been reduced as I've lost a few lbs - which makes sense. I was just wondering how often I might need to 'update' MFP manually like this so my suggested calories stay accurate!
    Thanks x

Updating every 10lbs I think is what most recommend.... Your calories will be reduced to create the same deficit. (if you keep calories the same, your deficit gradually decreases as you get lighter, which is why weight loss may slow down and eventually plateau)

When you update your current weight using Progress (on the app) or Check-In (on the web), MFP does not automatically recalculate your daily Calorie goal. If you continue to update your current weight under Progress or Check-In, MFP will only prompt or ask you if you want to update your Goals when there has been a total of 10 pounds lost since the last time you updated your Goals.

Sometimes MFP has bugs and it may not happen; or, a synced tracker or synced scale may interfere with the automated prompt process. You can re-run your goal setup at any time.

MFP is supposed to automatically update when you lose 10lbs, but sometimes it doesn't. After I've lost some weight, usually 5 lbs, I just go in and force a change by doing what you did. The automatic change doesn't always happen and it causes some people confusion when they stop losing weight because they are basically eating at maintenance at that point.

As an aside, I use an app called Happy Scale. It provides all kinds of information. The more you weigh in (no more than once per day), the more accurate prediction it makes on your future weight loss and when you will hit your goal.

I'm waiting for it to one day say, "At this point, you will never reach your goal." Lol.

On a particularly bad week Libra told me I'll reach my goal in 2025! Lol!
