Nobody knows.8 -
Here's the announcement from when it was released. Should clear everything up (or not): http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10570889/new-community-reaction-woo#latest4

Just follow my posts and click the woo button on every one of them.7 -
It's for people who want to be forcefully ambiguous.11

I typically use it as a "hell yeah" button if I think a post deserves more than just a plain old awesome click or I also as a "*kitten* yeah" button if I really like a post.4

HK?
(Who cares?)3 -
I've woo- ed everyone of these replies. Whatever it means..9

I think it's suppose to be for showing some kind of excitement. However I believe that it is a tool for showing sarcasm for those who lack that skill or thinks it's rude. As in: "Whoopdy f#cking doo!" or "Woo hoo cares!"

The meaning of woo is ineffable.
It cannot be defined rationally.
It can only be experienced.
Its substance is material but ephemeral, and cannot be expressed in the abstract.7 -

When I first saw this I thought, "that makes it more confusing," because are people saying woo-hoo or are they saying that your post is bologna?!
They basically tried to compromise by giving us a button we could use passive aggressively while simultaneously making the site still look positive and supportive.
I don't go into many detox or MLM threads so my woos are all positive
Well I do not approve lol
Oh neither do I, it's stupid
We need a "that's stupid" button.

But first we're getting a "that's what she said" button.3 -

I was confused because so many people use 'woo' to describe diet BS, I thought that's what it was supposed to be for. 'woo'1

I only view it in the negative sense, but refuse to use it and inadvertently boost someone's ego. I also cringe when a bogus post has multiple woos and I just know that person thinks they are being cheered on.6
