Yesterday, there was a dude at my gym wearing a Rush t-shirt. Not weird, in and of itself, but I looked closer and saw that it was a concert shirt from 1976. I spent a little bit of time wondering if it was a REAL concert shirt or just a re-made one like they do sometimes, all fake, but it looked worse for wear, and this guy had that "Serious Rush Fan" look about him, so I decided that it was the real deal.
THEN I started to wonder about this guy. He must be a pretty hard-core fan to have kept this concert tee for 41 years (and really, ALL Rush fans are hard-core fans) and I'm thinking, if he kept that shirt for 41 years, he must consider it a collector's item, and if that were me, I wouldn't have worn it to the GYM. That's pretty weird.
But then I thought, Rush fans are so hard-core that they follow the band around to all the shows in all the cities whenever they can. So like, this guy might have 142 concert tees from various Rush shows. So... yeah. Maybe he just wears them to wherever.
But THEN I thought, Rush just finished their LAST TOUR. Even if you were kind of lackadaisical about your memorabilia before, SURELY you'd be more careful with it now. There will be NO MORE RUSH CONCERT TEES. So then, I got kind of upset with him. Wearing that shirt to the gym is just plain disrespectful.9 -
