How can a "shake" help or hurt a hormone imbalance? If something sounds weird or too good to be true it usually is. Shakeology is just an MLM scheme. You are better off saving your money and buy a cheaper shake (some even have better quality ingredients than shakeology).
Tl;dr save your money and don't buy into the ridiculous claims about shakeology (or any other MLM scheme).19 -
Shakeology will not help PCOS, and anyone telling you it will do so is a shameful liar and a charlatan. At most, losing weight may help with PCOS, but you do not need Shakeology to lose weight. It's not great quality, there are far better meal replacement shakes out there (if that's what you want) which don't have the pressure selling mumbo jumbo attached to them.14
-
Shakeology is cheap protein powder and cheap vitamins. You'd be better off buying protein powder at the grocery store and whatever vitamins are on sale. Both would be higher quality than Shakeology and have the same impact (which is going to actually depend on what your total calorie intake is daily).9

Just eat real, whole foods. Eat fruits, veggies, whole grains, and stay away from frozen, processed, or fast food meals. That's all you need to lose weight and get your body back in check.
I used to have very irregular periods and have a lot of similarities to PCOS however I was never diagnosed. Losing weight and eating right "cured" most of those issues.
Btw, shakeology would be considered a processed food. There is no health benefit and no one has lasting results from those awful, expensive MLM items.15 -

So much wrong with that one sentence. To lose weight all you need is calorie deficit. Granted whole foods may keep you full longer, it is not required to lose weight.
Losing weight will not cure PCOS. It is a hormone imbalance that many women need to take medication for. Advising someone that losing weight is all they need can be harmful since people can interpret it as they no longer need their medication.
No reason to stay away from processed foods.12 -

If you are fighting hormone imbalance, you absolutely must eat nutritionally sound foods. Have you ever read any studies on hormone issues and processed foods? Have you ever suffered from it and then seen the benefit of eating whole? I seriously can't believe you just said "no reason to stay away from processed foods". What kind of advice is that when someone has a health issue?
Also I agree I should have been more specific, that sentence that you put in bold was erroneous; I was more zoned in on the hormone issues. Obviously you need a calorie deficit.11 -

I have pcos and still dont agree with you im with @elphie754 on this one...specifically the "frozen, processed or fast food" If it exists in a store its likely highly processed, even fruits and veg. Nothing at all wrong with fast food. And frozen veggies for example are often times more nutritious thn the fresh ones. Giving useless umbrella advice to the OP to needlessly complicate things is just unnecessary.
Even if i werent to be so technical, I have PCOS and lost 105 pounds in 14 months and i ate all of these things. Plus chocolate. and desserts. and all of the pizza. Yummy.

Excellent and worth repeating. But, I would buy a single multivitamin, not a bunch of different vitamins.1 -

Certain vitamins should not be taken together, but are together in a multivitamin which makes it rather pointless to take (such as iron and calcium which should not be taken together because it inhibits iron uptake yet are both included in a multivitamin). You are actually better off taking the individual vitamins that you need (are deficient in) than a multivitamin.5 -
Any "shake" that says it will cure or help with a medical condition is just bogus. Also if it is pushed by a "coach" or comes from some MLM company just avoid it. Its expensive, gross and just not worth it.3

I cannot believe some of you are telling someone fast food and processed food is just fine and cico is all that matters.
Yes CICO is what makes you lose weight. It is NOT what makes you healthy.
Just because you are thin does not mean you are healthy.
OP, you need to talk to a nutritionist. Let them tell you what you need to eat. I guarantee fast foods and processed food will not be on that list.17 -

Process (definition from dictionary): perform a series of mechanical or chemical operations on (something) in order to change or preserve it.8 -

Here on MFP a different definition of "processed" is used than what everyone I know offsite uses. But since technically frozen vegetables ARE processed, here on MFP I use "Ultra Processed" and link to the Brazilian definition, which breaks out "processed" into:
1. Natural/minimally processed
2. Processed
3. Ultra processed2 -

But you should. I love Krafts Mac n Cheese or frozen plain cheese pizza, add some vegetables with chicken and, boom, it is a satisfying meal. Pasta is "ultra processed" and add some fish with vegetables, boom, another wholesome meal. There is absolutely nothing wrong pizza, your stomach does not care. Pizza hits all the macros4 -
Fast food and even "ultra processed" food are fine in moderation. If you can't moderate because self-control is an issue, then abstinence might be the better route. But demonizing any particular kind of food is not helpful.
OP, I have PCOS with IR as well as hypothyroid. I find it easier to eat at a deficit when I keep my carbs lower, fats higher, and protein moderate. Not all, but many women find low carb to be helpful for losing weight. Some of your symptoms may improve at a lower weight, but again--not all. I had awful symptoms when I was thin (and I was very healthy at a lighter weight, since thin =/= healthy has been brought up). I have been advised by more than one doctor, specialist, and RD to try low carb, and when I was ready to, I did. I've never had one recommend Shakeology, "clean eating" above all else, or any other special diet/supplement.5 -

Yep, all frozen entree meals are horrible and should never be eaten.
Seriously though, if I had to eat by your definition I would be stuck being fat forever. It's just not sustainable for many people. Rather than placing guilt on foods by giving them a negative label I like to encourage people to find a balance between nutritionally dense foods and things they just enjoy eating. Even during competition prep I have candy and cheesecake because the overall balance of my diet contributes to health, plus tomorrow is never guaranteed so I'm going to enjoy the days I do get.8
