NOTHING can "help weight loss". Something either has, or has not, weight loss as an effect. The only thing that has weight loss as an effect, is a consistent calorie deficit.1

I hate green tea. It tastes like grass my dog just rubbed its butt over.
I like white, black, oolong, rooibos, all of it...just...NOT...green. Teas are low-cal drinks that taste like something and are more interesting than water, but no tea (or drink) has the magical power to burn fat. If you like it, drink it; it won't hurt.1 -
Helped me. Maybe it was the extra bit of caffeine, or just that it replaced coffee with milk (calories!). Green tea is delicate. The water should not be boiling.0

Love home brewed iced green tea!0 -
Only if you're drinking it to replace a beverage that has calories, and thus lowering your calorie intake.1

If you add ACV to the green tea, does it make it double magical?4

It can help take the edge off of your appetite so it's a good idea to try it with a healthy squeeze of lemon in lieu of one of your snacks between meals. I put Splenda in mine along with the lemon.0

Did Dr. Oz just do a green tea segment? Seems to be the question du jour.
No, green tea doesn't cause weight loss. Some people do find caffeine a bit of an appetite suppressant. And if green tea takes the place of a beverage with calories it can help you hit your calorie goal.3 -
My cookbook's frozen dessert section lists four versions of granita: orange (default), lemon-lime, coffee and green tea. I haven't run the calories on the coffee version as I'm not fond of the flavor. I have run the other three and the green tea version has the fewest calories. Comes in at about 85 per 1/2-cup serving. So, from the perspective of being low-calorie, it can fit into your calorie goals a bit more easily—provided you aren't on a sugar restriction. There are 2/3 of a cup of sugar in a recipe meant to yield 3 cups (6 servings).0

I don't think any type of tea changes your rate of calorie burning.1

I drink four bags worth of green tea a day and can confirm it does nothing except offer a great substitute for caffeine/plain water.2
