I recently started the monarch program and they want me to keep my protein to carb ratio at 1:1. I'm having a really hard time achieving this everyday. They want me to take in a minimum of 140g of protein and getting my carbs close to matching my protein is throwing my fat count high and calories intake lower than I'm supposed to be pre meal. Is anyone else having this issue and does anyone have any suggestions by chance. Pre mini meal I'm supposed to get at least 15g of protein and no more than 200 calories. Main meal "dinner" is 500-600 calories and 40g of protein but trying to mix and match to get carbs up seems in my mind that I am eating way to much food and sometimes I can't finish. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have no idea what the program is, but it sounds overly complicated.
Meal timing, nutrient timing, meal frequency etc is pretty irrelevant for most people. Focus on overall calories across the day.5 -
I've never heard of the "Monarch" program. What's it costing you?
Simple fixes to your problem are as follows: To increase protein without changing fat or carbs, eat tuna canned in water. To increase carb without changing fat or protein, eat banana.
To enjoy losing weight, get your money back.5 -
Eat at a calorie deficit = lose weight. Doesn't need to be more complicated than that.3

I assume this is the Monarch Medical Weight Loss Center we're talking about, the one in Oregon? If so it's $500/month and supposedly on the same level as a hospital-backed weight loss program. Not entirely sure about those claims, as there are almost no studies or reviews about the program itself.
If you're still intent on trying this, which part of the 1:1 are you having trouble with? If it's protein, you can add protein powder to foods for a boost of protein (most are low/non fat). If it's carbs you can try adding in natural sources of carbs like fruit (again, most are non-fat).0 -
Have you tried supplementing with a protien shake? Just stay away from the ones that are packed with artificial sweeteners.
Fish and white meat chicken are also really good real food options.2 -

And the scientifically based reason behind this suggestion would be what?1 -

Absolutely nothing wrong with artificial sweeteners. That's been scientifically proven over and over again.
And which specific ones are "packed" with them anyway?2 -
The two best options, in my opinion, and the second is clearly my favorite:
1) Ask them.
2) Drop the stupid program. Ideally get your money back.5 -
Oh my word, that sounds way too complicated! Are you on it for medical reasons? If so, what medical condition are you treating? Are you paying for this programme? If so, go back to them and get them to do you a meal plan, if you aren't then stop overthinking losing weight. Just plug in your stats to this lovely free site and have at it, eat what you like in moderation, at a time that suits you, weigh solids on a digital scale / measure liquids with a jug or measuring spoons and make sure you hit your calorie goal. You will get the results you desire. Simples!3

@SLLeask, you have just given me a silly grin thinking of the meerkat ads that were on in the UK a couple of years ago when I was visiting my mum.
Simples.
Carry on. Sorry for the detour.
Cheers, h.3 -
Yes it's the hospital style program. My insurance covers this program. Since the end of January I've gained over 50 lbs and was already on a homemade diet of 2k calories. They have tested my thyroid and everything came back normal. Blood test came back normal. So the doctors say my metabolism has pretty much shut down and sent me to this program on hopes of getting my metabolism working good and in overdrive. I've cut back to 1400-1500 calories a day with 140g of protein but still coming up short on carbs. Thank you for the responses. I'll try adding different fruits and mess around with it more and see if I can hit my magic numbers.0

The magic number is your calorie goal. Even if you struggle with the macros, make sure you're weighing (solids) and measuring (liquids) and then using accurate database entries so at least you have confidence in your calorie intake.0 -
