Sorry if I seem like a dumby asking this, but how do you cook broccoli in the microwave? Do I need to put it in water or just throw it on a plate and let it cook till tender?(it's frozen btw)

Ideally, in a tub with a vented lid and a centimetre or so of water in the bottom to help cook it with the steam0

if its frozen, I put it in a microwave-safe bowl, add a little water, and then set the microwave for 7ish minutes and hit start0

Yes, a tablespoon or so of water and covered with plastic wrap or a lid and then microwaved for whatever the package says.0

Ziploc makes these bags that are for steaming veggies in the microwave. I live by them! You can do frozen or fresh. It has times on the bag for just about everything :-)0

I agree with what everyone else has posted, but if you ever have a chance purchase a Pampered Chef microwave steamer. I have two and neither are ever clean at the same time. I use them all the time to steam my veggies. The best thing is that it only takes about 2 minutes at the most to get great tasting veggies from the microwave.0

KATIE....eating broccoli....MY PROUDEST MOMENT AS YOUR AUNT YET!0

Don't cook broccoli in the microwave. Cooking broccoli in the microwave actually kills a lot of the nutritional value.0

If you want to cook them in the microwave, you can certainly use water. I like using lemon juice some days, though. I like how it tastes with lemon juice. Either with water or anything else, I put it in the microwave for 3 minutes... but some microwaves are different than others so the time might be different for you, but the amount of water/lemon juice/etc should generally be the same.0

broccoli cooks so quick on the hob there is really no need to microwave it, however if for some reason (perhaps you don not have access to a hob) you have to use the microwave then yes, cover with a little water, and put a lid on it and cook in microwave for somewhere between 2-7mins , i would prob test it at 3mins, depends how hard or soft you want it. :-)0
