goin to the movies on Friday...but the popcorn!

I feel like I have to have popcorn at the movie theatres. It's a hard habit to break.
Last time I went to the theatres, my husband bought a large popcorn, but had them put some of it in a small bag before he added butter & salt. That way I could still enjoy my popcorn without the extra added crap. Problem is...it was probably still really high in sodium and I'm not sure exactly how much cals and everything else I ate.
I think Friday I am going to pop one of my 100 calorie popcorn bags and try to find a way to stuff it in my purse for Friday and sneak it in.
Gotta have popcorn while I enjoy Harry Potter!

Bring your own popcorn. I always pop one of those 100 cal bags before I go, and put it in my purse. Or bring some fruit with you.0

Great idea on bringing your own popcorn. I went to the movies on Sunday and I told myself I wouldn't eat popcorn but I allowed myself a little with no butter or salt. When I logged it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Enjoy the movie and the popcorn! (:0

great idea
bring your own!0 -
I do that, and it's way better. Also I like york peppermint pieces. Little and you can eat 50 for a reasonable serving size.0

for sure bring your own! the popcorn at the movie theaters is popped in so much oil (even if you do not get the butter topping, it is a lot). If you have some, a little would be fine (I think everyone deserves a treat) but if you really want to watch what you eat that day, bring your own. I also bring a pack of Emerald's Dark Cocoa Roast almonds (fulfills my candy craving!) and a diet coke. I brought that to the movies and was fine...even though my fiance bought the popcorn...I was able to resist!! (so hard though!)0

I go to the movies twice a year. I plan my day, extra exercise, light meals, and I eat the popcorn. Not saying you should, but that is just what I do. I love it, and I don't eat it every day.0

Tee hee. . . . I always sneak some white cheddar popcorn in with me. I dump everything else out of my purse, put my lip balm and enough money for the ticket in the outside pocket and stuff in my popcorn and water bottle.0

I pack berries and orange slices. Then for crunch some caramel mini rice cakes or chocolate rice cakes0

My roommate and I always split a small popcorn, and I make her hold it so I don't eat so much!0

I always bring my own popcorn too - pop secret (3 serving size bag) has 120 calories total!!!
Compare that to movie popcorn - approx 300 calories for a small and the price - $5 - are they nuts....?????
Home made is always fresher and less expensive - approx $1 per bag!
Plus I also bring water with flavor like ice tea.
Much Much Much better for you...
And if you must have chocolate bring 1 or 2 snack size - but don't be tempted to eat the whole bag! - save some for the next movie!0 -
I went to the movies today. I am usually one to stuff my face with popcorn while watching a movie but tonight I passed. I brought seedless grapes with me to avoid temptation.0

I enjoyed watching Harry Potter last week with a serving of roasted, salted almonds for some crunch and 2 mini york peppermint patties. I still got to have a salty, crunchy snack and a little bit of candy too. :drinker:0

Guess I am the odd person out here. I can't stand movie theater popcorn. Too greasy. :sick:0

I don't like popcorn in general so I don't eat it, but I agree that it's a good idea to bring your own popcorn. At least this way, you know what you're putting in your body.0

I also bring my own popcorn and chocolate and drink to the cinema with me. just take a good sized handbag and stuff it in there, if they are likely to check your bags (which they dont here anymore) put a cardigan or jumper in it on top :-) i would much rather know exactly how many calories i am consuming and that i dont have to feel guilty for having something tasty whilst i enjoy the movie than pigging out on cinema snacks and feeling guilty after, either that or if i know far enough in advance, i will plan the rest of my day around eating bad at cinema and do extra exercise etc, but this only works if you are able to get accurate nutritional info for their foods, which is very hard to achieve, i only managed it with mini tubs of ice cream and pre packed foods so far.
good luck and enjoy the film :-)0
