You burn calories just by living. MFP sets you up to lose weight as is.
Are you getting treatment for your depression/mental illness? Can you walk to their office?3 -
im on antidepressants and yes i can walk there in the winter but not summer i have panic attacks with hot weather im only 11 stone but the rolls of fat on me for 11 stone is ridiculous im so small of a person and its just effecting me and im constantly thinking im never going to loose due to this illness now im so fed up0

You don't need to worry about exercise right now it's only really important once your close to your weight goal. Get a food scale . Track your calories according to what the app sets you and try to eat clean . Drink lots of water1

Losing weight doesn't solve all your problems but it helps a lot to look in the mirror and feel a little better every day. You've come to the right place. Start logging in every day and read the success stories. Also search community for people with similar stories. When you're ready start keeping track of calories and open your diary. It's a process. I've lost 37 pounds so far. Welcome aboard!2

I have a similar problem with depression. Honestly if I can't go out of the house I force myself to walk around the inside of my house or walk in place while watch tv (helps me keep my mind busy)! I really force it. I know how hard it is to deal, but im sure you got it! Best of luck3

Do you have a yard? I'm lucky that i have a huge yard with side gates on either side of my house. I get in 13-15k steps a day without ever leaving home. I do 10-20 laps at a time which takes me 15-30 minutes to complete.1

You don't have to walk outside to lose weight. Weight loss is primarily a result of eating fewer calories. There are lots of indoor home workouts, including Leslie Samsone walk at home videos.1

I'm unable to exercise at the moment but all I was doing before was walking a bit more every day with my dog (I seldom leave the house on foot without her since I have MH issues too). I experimented a bit with my calories for a couple of weeks and just knocked my activity level back to sedentary. I stopped losing for a week or two but it's coming off again now.
You literally just need to log what you eat honestly and as accurately as possible - that's it You can do it!0 -

This is true, I lost the bulk of my weight doing zero exercise.
One day i bought a fitbit and discovered how much i love walking, so i just kept it up. But if you really want to exercise there are ways to do it without leaving home, Just don't think you HAVE to do it to lose weight. Yes, it's a help (more food to eat/fitness), but not a necessity.0 -
I'll echo all the others; CICO. As long as eat within your calories and try to keep reasonably close to your macros, you'll lose the weight! Good luck0

You don't have to exercise to lose weight. However, regular exercise can help with depression and anxiety. Even when you don't feel like it, getting up and moving can make a difference. If you have a nature reserve nearby, even better. It is just so hard to take those first steps though when you are struggling so much.0
