Motivation needed

I'm doing great on working out but I need a lot of motivation eating healthier such as less carbs, less sugar/alt sweetener, and over all making good choices. I already am pretty aware of portion as well. 2 major things that are both equally holding me back. One is expense. I have what a lot of people call ramen noodle budjet and the other thing is not saying "no". For example: walking into subway and getting a sandwich instead of a salad or going for a big glass of southern sweet tea instead of lemonade or water. Much motivation is needed along with help making right choices. It's very hard to say "no" to all of the unhealthy choices that are out there. Anyone wanna side with me?

    Really cheap healthy carbs:
Cabbage: vegetables are carbs, really low calorie healthy carbs, but carbs. And, they are one of the cheapest vegetables to buy per pound.
Dry beans: hard to get cheaper than the bulk barrels of dry beans
Carrots: they tend to be in sale every other week
    Legumes: lentils, peas (especially dry)
Potatoes: with skin, when they go on sale - have potatoes for the week as a good carb. Especially baked or smashed (just mushed up w/o milk & butter)
Corn on the cob: when they go on sale I've seen them as cheap as 10 ears for $1.

Note: beans and lentils can be made in bulk and frozen in thier juices. Switch bread with beans a few times a week and save a few dollars.

A good way to save on groceries is to "eat seasonally". Eat summer vegetables in the summer, fall ones in the fall. This is when they are cheapest!!!

Never knew vegetables had carbs. I love vegetables. It's trying to avoid fried vegetables and go for baked or steamed or even occasionally raw vegetables.

I'm nervous about eating potatoes because they are so very starchy and carby. I'm not real big on them because of that. Even if I eat mashed potatoes I still feel like I'm getting too many carbs even if I use portion control and don't add any extra butter.
