Bodybuilding Mom of 2 Reportedly Dies of Protein Overdose
Hefford was found unconscious in her apartment on June 19 and rushed to the hospital, where it took doctors two days to diagnose her with urea cycle disorder. By that point, the buildup of ammonia in her blood and fluid in her brain was too much, and she was declared brain dead the next day.

The article doesn't say how much protein she consumed. A Urea Cycle Disorder is a rare genetic disease, which according to Wikipedia means: "If individuals with a defect in any of the enzymes used in the cycle ingest amino acids beyond what is necessary for the minimum daily requirements the ammonia that is produced will not be able to be converted to urea." So I don't think this is something that people in general need to worry about.

I hate this article, I've been seeing it make its rounds on social media.

It's terrible that she died, but the title of it is going to make a bunch of idiots scream that too much protein is bad for you.

This. There are a few medical conditions where it's bad for you, and most people eat more than they need, but unless you are eating so much protein that you are missing out on other nutrients most people have a wide range of what their body can handle.

I read this earlier today-kind of like how HS football players drop dead on the field and then they find out they had a rare heart defect. Unfortunate, but definitely not the norm.
