Who's seen this new documentary? Any opinions? I've seen it last night and have to say that even as a vegan there were things there I did not know about. I think everyone should watch it because it's so eye opening and gives an alternative way of life!

As a vegan, I think it's obnoxious to lie and/or misrepresent facts. I wish people would consider the long-term impact to animal advocacy when they do things that will lead non-vegans to conclude that vegans are dishonest or manipulative.28
-
The reason you didn't know some of those things? It's because they outright lied. Either that, or they literally had no idea what they were talking about. I'd be willing to bet it was a bit of each in different places.14

It's not a "documentary", it's a hack job full of pseudoscience, propaganda, woo and fearmongering. The only thing it "documents" is how low people will stoop to further their agenda.16
-
It's an agenda driven crockumentary and I think it ultimately does a disservice to their cause.10

Film is made by Animal Rights Activists. Propaganda. They want to save all animals and will tell any lies such as meat causes cancer and milk causes osteoporosis. They skew the data.

Sounds like something someone says when they've been recruited to a cult.12 -

you didn't know those things because they are not true9 -
Op, this has already been discussed here on the forums quite a bit. But the consensuses is that it intentionally distorted the truth to push an agenda and it's utter rubbish.4
-
What parts of it are distorted though? And don't say all of it hahaha, I'm interested.1

Use google. For a new documentary, google is full of sites that explain how they got such skewed statistics. https://vinnietortorich.com/2017/06/debunking-what-the-health-in-detail-episode-847/ Read the link!!!
Sorry extremist vegans, milk does not cause diabetes.5 -
I don't know why crooks would advocate for a plant based diet. There's no money in it. These doctors want to heal people, and they know that happens with a plant based diet.
There's no "agenda". Unless saving the planet and all humans counts as one.
The agenda is with the animal industries. Making billions off the backs of tortured creatures and dying people. There's no money in healthy people. And there's no money in dead people. The money comes from those in the middle. Sick and dependent on their addictions and the medicines that maintain their "life".
You can't say you care about the planet, humans, animals, plants, nature, oceans, or anything else unless you support a vegan lifestyle.

People can absolutely make money with books, conferences, websites, movies, speaking engagements, and product lines (like the Engine2 foods or the McDougall soups). That these products are surrounding a plant-based diet doesn't change that people sometimes make money from things like these.
Is everyone with a book, conference, website, movie, frequent speaking engagements, and product lines a crook who is seeking to make money? No. But it's illogical to deny that money can be made with these activities.
Having a good agenda doesn't excuse dishonesty, misrepresentation, or inattention to detail. In fact, those of us who feel like we have a cause that is worthwhile should be critical of those who engage in activities like this and spread the impression that vegans are fine with lies, misrepresentations, or poor research in order to further our cause. Ultimately, this probably causes more harm for animals. People figure that if vegans will lie about one thing, they could be lying about everything. It makes things like animal abuse and articulations of moral concern around the treatment of animals easier to dismiss.16 -
this is prob the 50th thread about it lol6

Well, it pretty much was all of it. The below video discusses a lot of the misrepresentations of science.

ORLY?
Wow. Judgmental.
I, and many others here donate time and money to organizations, animal shelters, sanctuaries and the like.

I bolded the answers to your question.6 -
I was amazed when I saw the documentary. Some family members have gone vegan since then. I am doing plant based diet, but with occasional red meat....and chicken and fish mostly. My diet plan is more Mediterranean as I believe it is healthy eating and more doable for me.
