Hi guys,

Does anyone use any other tools to help with our eating/nutrition and fitness goals besides my fitness pal?

For nutrition: I use a site called cronometer from time to time. It's database is bad if you eat a lot of processed foods, but it's good if you eat natural. I saw my omega 3to6 ratio. And I found out I'm not getting enough magnesium in my diet. I breaks down vitamins and minerals. I started eating more veggies because of that site. Made me realize how little I was getting in certain vitamins.

For fitness goals, trying to increase activity, I use my Fitbit, Zen Labs Couch to 5K app (and eventually the 10K app).

I use the DASH protocol as a template for a food plan, so I have a notebook with graph paper that I use to keep track of things. That's about it-I don't track at all on MFP and just hang out on the forums.

I bought a "mimi stepper" for $60 that fits in my closet. I call it my "no excuse stepper" since I live the Western New York and can never count on the weather to cooperate for outdoor workouts. Not that I have the stepper I have no excuse not to work out even if the weather is awful! And it came with resistance bands so I can work my upper body while on it too!

that's awesome man. Are there any specific tools you use to keep track of your workouts (other than bike workouts) and dieting?

No way. that's awesome. I am going to check it out! :) it sounds like something that's useful other than myfitnesspal

hahahahha. good one. I mean more of like any external tools to help keep track of diet/exercise. Like smart watch, phone, apps, websites or anything like that.

that is cool. i'm so glad for you. Good job to keep yourself motivated and to not make up any excuses. great for keeping yourself accountable. "no excuse stepper" LOL. is there anything else you frequently use to keep track of exercise and diet on the daily?

hmm that's intereting. Why don't you use MFP? I love the MFP community though. everyone is always so motivated and active! It really encourages you to keep going.

My Garmin watch, currently the old model Vivoactive, upgrading next month to the Forerunner 235. I uses Fitness Blender for workouts, I use their site and schedules so I can tick off on a calendar the workouts I've done as I go. Sometimes use MapMyWalk for curiosity if I'm hiking. I also have a mini stepper, I can steps in while watching Ru Paul's Drag Race. Win win.

    Log food here.

Use a couple of Facebook groups of people who are awesome in the industry so I can continue to educate myself.

    I keep things pretty simple.

I didn't discover MFP until after I had already transitioned into maintenance. Keeping a food diary like how MFP is set up just doesn't appeal to me-I already have a system in place that works well for me :) I do enjoy participating in the forums though!
