That's actually true. It's the scariest. It's the unknowniest. Once you get through a month you aren't scared of waiting a few hours for a next meal.

Hi, you are doing great. Just stick to it and dont lose focus. I am also a newbie, started few weeks back but with a bit of discipline I can see the results now. I must stress that it is very important to log everything you eat  hope it helps

Absolutely!! it is hard in the begining but as you keep logging the app is intelligent to know the repeat items

The first month totally is the toughest. I agree! Best of luck, let's think about how this month brings us closer to our goals!

I don't know what you are doing, but for me, the zeroth, and the last, months have always been the toughest.

I disagree. First month you have all the excitement and enthusiasm. Month 5 when this is just the habit and enthusiasm has waned and calories have lowered and you have lost a bunch of weight is the hardest because that's when you have to determine you can't go back to your old ways. Deciding not to yoyo not to mindlessly eat a party size bag of Reese cups ect.

I agree with @amtyrell. The first month with all the new stuff and things to read up on and easy progression at the gym was easy. The second was discouraging so far, as I did not see the same progression in the gym and so far do not feel my body is changing at all. Also I got much less satisfied with the same amount of calories and the same foods that were no problem in the first month. And because the rules are not new anymore, I feel more inclined to allow "exceptions".
I don't want to say the second is the worst in general. It also depends on your environment and general stress level. Some days are just easier or harder than others. So are months. But the first day/week/month of anything is usually the easiest for me. It might feel hard at the time, but in hindsight, it was not. Just unusual.
The important thing is to use the first month to learn the behaviors that you will have to fall back on during the hard months.

^^^ THIS. Although I rarely actually make it to 5 months. I usually fall off somewhere in month 2. The first month is the EASIEST! All the motivation to get it done, new meals to try out, etc. Plus I love seeing the first few pounds melt off which often happens the first month. Then it slows down. The motivation is harder to find, the meals become mundane.

I wish every month could be the first month. :-)

    First month.
    Five months.
    First year!!!
    Two years!!!

Just remember guys. This journey is not linear.
It is often three steps forward, two steps backward.
What you do is become better at is this.
You have a bad day, you pick yourself up, and you start again. And you just keep on going.
    You don't stop.
You cheer with your little victories, you forgive yourself when you have a blow out, and you just keep on putting that one foot in front of the other.

You research. You try new things. Seek out support. But you know what. You learn. You grow.
    You get better at.

And that is what drives us. Every day
