I am 300+ lbs and literally carry all my weight in my "gut". I have been walking approximately 3-5 days a week, and 3 miles each time. Slowly will work myself to a jog as some more lbs fall off.
What is the best thing to do to lose the weight that I clearly carry in my belly?
Thanks in advance!

TL;DR You can't target belly fat. Keep losing weight, add some strength training, be patient.5 -

The best exercises are table pushaways and fork putdowns.....seriously though, you can lose weight without exercising. It comes down to consuming fewer calories than you expend. Sadly your body will decide where the fat disappears from first by itself, you can't spot reduce through exercise.
Having said that, I would certainly encourage anyone (overweight or not) to exercise on a regular basis. Walking, biking, swimming etc are all great exercises and, over time, I'd encourage you to transition to running if you enjoy it. You should also consider strength training as part of your regimen to at least maintain your current lean muscle mass.
Good luck!5 -
You could try a low carbohydrate diet.7

Low carb diets are just a way to reduce calories. Some people find protein and fat more filling, which helps keep them in a deficit. Nothing special about them and they don't target belly fat.4 -
The table pushaway and fork put down.
The reality is that exercise DOESN'T target body fat at all. You can exercise 1000 calories away a day, but if you ate 1000 calories to counter it, weight loss isn't going to happen.

Fair warning, just carrying that much weight around is hurting your knees. Be cautious about going to something higher impact like jogging. I started off pushing the 300 pound mark myself and only walk and go to the gym since January and have lost over 35 pounds so far. Granted, I don't know how old you are but still. Take it from someone who has abused their knees for 51 years by remaining overweight. I wear compression braces all the time now and would be hard pressed to do a significant amount of running if my life depended on it.0

No - not true for "everyone." I'm pear shaped. I bet you can guess where I lose last.2 -
Thanks everyone! I have been pleased with the numbers so far (Down 41 since June 23rd), but my goal is to lose 40 more before Dec 1. Long term goal is to lose A TOTAL of 90 more from my current weight.
I just turned 40 in June, but feeling great!0
