I bought some parmesan ends the other day. I weigh out one ounce on my scale as a snack. It's 110 calories, but worth it. It's kind of hard to chew, so it's not easy to eat it really fast.0

One of new favorite foods is goat cheese. It is really strong so you don't need to add a lot to get a ton of flavor, and only 70 calories an ounce.
Here is my quick recipe. This gives a lot of food for about 350 calories:
12 oz mushroom (or a bit more)
4 oz goat cheese
little bit of cooking wine (I prefer Marsala, but used white when I run out)
Cooking spray
1)remove stems from mushrooms. Chop stems, and heat on stove in small pan until juice is released (3-5 minutes).
2)Mix with goat cheese, and let stand
3) spray pan with cooking spray, and put just enough wine to coat bottom of pan. Add mushrooms and cook til done (when juice has pooled in center, about 10 minutes)
4) Pour out excess juice and set mushrooms on plate. Fill with cheese mixture.
5) Eat and enjoy!
Note: This is a basic recipe, that anyone can change to their tastes. Adding basil to the cheese stuffing is one idea.0 -
the cabot 75% and 50% reduced fat cheese are low in cals and still taste great0

LOL Glad to know I'm not alone.
I read an article that says cheese has an ingredient that makes it addicting. I completely believe it is true.
chrisc....I might have to invest in a food scale. I know I could eat a block of cheese without giving it a second thought.

I have learned to have a cheese string as a snack every day or two to help curve my cheese cravings. But if the occasion calls for something better (like feta in a salad), I will go for that instead....in moderation.0

I LOVE cheese. If left unmonitored, I could easily consume 800-1000 calories in cheese. I love love love it. Gouda, parmesan, assiago, cheddar, brie, gorgonzola, muenster, romano, provalone, mozzarella, I could go on and on- I even cheese in my sweets, like kanafeh.. or I put it on my apple pie. yikes!
Right now I've given up cheese but just for now. When I think I'm ready I'll reintroduce it to my diet in moderation, but for right now it's better that I just don't eat any at all.0 -
Eeeek! I don't think I could quit cold-turkey on cheese. (lol, sorry 'bout the pun).
Seriously though, I just have to learn moderation I guess 'cuz cheese will have to remain a part of my eating habits. lol0 -

I'm a cheese adict. It's so bad. In life before my fitness pal- as I call it BMFP- I could easily eat a half a block of brie. In fact, I have on many occasions.
I like the laughing cow wedges to use as a spread on sandwichs- but they are really "fake" super processed cheese.
Instead I tend to treat myself to a really fancy cheese and use it in moderation. When you make pizza with a super fresh ball of motzerella instead of shredded plastic- you will find you can use SO much less....and therfore save on the calories.
When you get good cheese- a little goes a long way.
Perhaps buy a block of that beloved sharp chedder. Shave some to use on top of salads- 1-2tsps. And cut some into blocks to eat with crackers or put into omletters.
Get a food scale and scale out portions of the cheese. It willl be well worth it.0 -

Kind of funny, but truth is, I can't have it around. I LOVE Black Diamond Extra Sharp Cheddar. I don't even like "near" cheese. I want the smooth, tangy, mouth feel of full fat cheddar... But I know I can't control myself around it, and until I can, it can't live with me. I'm hoping someday...0 -
I use strongly flavored cheeses in moderation (1T blue cheese on a salad; shaved parmesan or gruyere), and find that grating cheddar on the super fine side of my box grater makes 1/2 oz go REALLY far.....the four of us split an ounce of cheddar on burritos (well, I had lettuce wraps, but the same filling.)
Cheese is definitely a "happy food" for me, and nothing beats a great cheddar melt with tomato soup on a snowy day. (I'm clinging to the thought that winter will, inevitably, follow fall...which should follow "scorch," right?)0 -

I live in France, I can say no more and alternatives are against the law here.
I also live in France and agree 100% When people ask me why I moved to France I tell them it's because I love wine and cheese.
This town is full of savoyarde restaurants with menus consisting of nothing but cook-it-yourself cheese. Fondue, raclette, reblochonnade, reblochon en croute....
The goats cheese is pretty good too, and that's healthier so I try to stick to that or blue cheese, as it's stronger so I need less.0 -
I don't eat "lite" cheese except for a laughing cow wedge in the morning, but I love Prima Donna, Goat Brie, Robusta, St. Andre (try it room temp with peaches), Armenian String Cheese, Tallegio(eaten like brie), etc. I figure if I'm going to eat something I like, I will just eat it in moderation instead of eating fake food.0

There are a lot of reduced fat options out now! Look for a skim milk cheese... it's not got quite the same richness of flavor but it's still cheese and it gets you over that craving. I found a brand that does low cal/low fat cheese sticks and they are great -- 1 is like 40 calories and it gets me my cheese fix. Also, try parmesan/romano cheese in grated form. 1 tablespoon is something like 10 calories I think? Great for pasta.0
