Alcohol Free August 2017

Does anyone have recommendations on what to drink if not alcohol at a party? We are very social and if I don't have a glass in my hand everyone thinks there is something wrong. I am also trying to do no alcohol in August. Thinking seltzer water or Kombucha to "mimic" a cocktail.
My sister has a trick. She orders white wine and separate sparkling water. Secretly orders 2 glasses and fills one . The wine one she leaves on a table. When shots are ordered she always accepts and silly as it sounds , when people down their shots she throws hers over her shoulder. I have never tried but she has super fast reflexes and no one ever notices ...lol... as you can imagine she is amazing at networking on a drinks work night .....once people have 1 or 2 in them they stop noticing
OMG that is brilliant!!! My biggest awkwardness is social situations and how to fly under the radar.0 -
I am on day 28 with no alcohol and I have to say that I am finding that I have more time and energy to clean my house, go for walks, and focus on my diet/exercise. I have finally busted my plateau too. I don't think I could have done that if I was still drinking wine and eating like a pig on weekends. I won't say that I am not tempted from time to time, but the temptation is less and less.
I hope you all are enjoying some benefits whether you are abstaining or just trying to reduce or moderate.5 -
Day 21 - looking back on what I've given up. Thinking about looking forward - at the end of the month - then what? I'd like to be someone who doesn't drink, but for now I'm day by day. The weight is coming off, slower than I'd like and harder than it went on.2

I was very tempted tonight but stuck to my sparkling water. Being sober also lessened my anxiety I normally have after hanging out with new people, which I did tonight.3

I was tempted this weekend to have some wine. After 30 min the craving passed and I got home from the grocery store pretty pleased that I'd narrowly avoided succumbing to the temptation.2

With just a week left to go I think I've got this!! Hopefully I'll carry it into September as once I cut out alcohol in July with just one slip up day, I finally started losing again and am within 4# of GW.5

Me too! I want to carry this info September as well. I'm 4 pounds lighter since deciding not to drink wine since July 24. 4 pounds may not seem like a lot but the scale had been stuck since May!5 -

Only one? Focus on all the days you went with ZERO in August. Don't beat yourself up over one glass. There's only a few days left of August and you can still finish the month strong with 30/31 days alcohol free.1 -

Hey everybody! 23/25 for me in August. It's great to feel more in control and know that I don't have to drink to relax or have fun!5

Just hanging on today. Birthday party, alcohol temptation has passed. Alcohol makes you deaf - way too loud. Not counting calories - one battle at a time today.4

Birthday party for 55 year old brother-in-law, heavy drinking culture - I left early - note to self - avoid drinking parties.3

Well my alcohol-free August didn't transpire the way I'd hoped and I'm paying for it dearly. I'm in for September. Anyone want to hop aboard the teatotaller train? I have to do something.3
