Hello :)

My name is Tanya, I'm 32 and I'm a sugar addict. As an RN I know all too well the dangers of being obese. And yet my weight keeps going up and up. I'm currently army heaviest. I'm 5ft 7, and 16 stone 11/235lbs. My blood pressure is pre hypertensive, I get out of breath when I walk, I lack energy and probably deficient in nutrients. My diet is disgusting. All I eat is junk. This morning I woke up, ate two packs of crisps and an ice cream, felt sick and lethargic and thought....why do I do this to myself?

I'm including pics as it's a big step for me to publish full length photos (I usually stick to head shots). I prefer to ignore my size but accepting I am this big is key I feel to tackling it.

So pics below. Last is from a recent holiday, where I looked and thought...oh my goodness. Cankles, fat legs pasty thighs double chin I felt sick just looking at it.

I need to lose this weight but I feel like I don't know where to start. I'm happy to go slow and steady but confused about the activity level. For example if I work a 12.5 hour shift as a nurse I would be lightly active but on my days off I literally just sit. Should I choose sedentary?

Any advice, friendships or support would be very appreciated! Thankyou guys x

    I always suggest sedentary :)
There are plenty of helpful posts on the forum, look it up! But the main thing is: read food labels, weigh what you eat, log it in, and keep to your calorie deficit.
Facing reality is tough, but it's the only way to improve. You got this :)

Thankyou, it is I have pretended I wasn't so big for so long but now lying to myself is hurting my health, I have to face up to things. Just so daunting :-(

It is, but it's also exciting! Can you imagine your future healthy self? You'll learn so much about food and nutrition, what's right for you and what isn't. You might even get excited about fitness! If you're patient and take it a day at a time I'm sure you will succeed and feel a lot more energized and happy :) I'm available to help you in anything I can!

Thankyou, I guess it is all about perspective you're right I should be more positive :). It's just hard when you are annoyed at yourself for getting to this stage in the first place....sounds obvious but would have a lot less to lose if I wasn't so fat lol.....wish I just stopped as I was getting bigger. But there's only one way to go and that's skinny hopefully lol

for what it's worth, you're beautiful! but being fit and healthy is feels great inside and out. I found tracking helped loads, and tracking also indirectly helped me get serious about my fitness and I'm really grateful for that.
I hear you with loving sugar. what helped me is finding healthy, diet-friendly foods help satisfy those cravings- for me, soy yoghurt and frozen berries with a splash of maple syrup will do it most of the time when I want sweet food and it's really low calorie.

I lost 20 pounds in 2.5 months and it was so much easier than I ever believed was possible. First things first, you've got to want it. I mean REALLY want it.

To that end, I put up a large note in the kitchen that I could not miss and it reads: "Who wants to be thin and sexy? I DO...!!! I DO...!!!".

Every time I see it, I read it and it reinforces my desire to change my lifestyle and become healthier, as well reinforces in my mind what's most important, and that is to feel good about me being me. Let's be honest here, all change first takes place in one's mind and if you focus on it long enough it becomes real. The steps to get there will fall into place if you just stay focused on what you desire.
