You can leave the beans out and it still tastes good....I have done that and just added diced green pepper and used a little more meat.0 -

Yes you use regular white rice (not instant) and I believe that it is a 12oz jar of salsa, although a little more or less probably wouldn't make much of a difference.0 -

Note, if you use brown rice it'll increase the cook time, by a lot! I had it in for an hour and a half and it was still a little crunchy. But maybe next time I'll try adding the water already boiling, and making sure the foil is sealed really tight.0 -
