Flaxseed and Chia seeds: do they lower testosterone in men?

I've been making fruit and vegetable smoothies lately and throwing in a couple tablespoons of flaxseed or chia seeds. You read about how they're superfoods with lots of Omega 3 in them, but are they only a superfood for women?

My T is on the low side of normal, so I avoid soy for example and if anything would like to improve my testosterone health. Googling about ground flaxseeds and the tests they've done on mice, it apparently does notably lower their testosterone. Apparently this is good for fighting breast cancer, and maybe even prostate cancer in men, but ultimately lowering testosterone is bad for guys.

So, should I cut these out? Most of the articles I've read are inconclusive on their opinion on this. I do take two fish oil pills a day for Omega 3, but I'm always looking for more healthy things to throw into a smoothie.

What do you think? Thanks.

Yep walnuts are good, I'll try throwing those into a smoothie. I've enjoyed almonds, those don't have omega3 apparently but have good amino acids.

You are not a lab rat. Or, a plant, for that matter. Eat flax meal, eat chia, and eat soy. Plant based phytoestrogen is not human estrogen. But, keeping a healthy omega 3/6 balance is vital to over all good health.

This ^^^^^^ don't believe everything you hear on the internet. There is nothing wrong with soy the only relationship phyroestrogen has to the female hormone oestrogen is a similar name. It does not effect your testosterone levels and will not turn you into a woman. Eat soy, chia and flax seeds if you want they will have no effect on you testosterone

Flax seeds DO lower testosterone. Read the first line of the abstract -- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2752973/

I disagree. Don't listen to everything on the internet. Whey over soy anyday

I don't care about eating flax seeds much because I consume less than 5 grams whenever I do eat them. I would not eat a lot though.
